I have used this several times over the past 10 years and have had great results - for those I would give 5 stars, but this latest purchase must've been a bad batch or they've changed suppliers -- I installed a 50 foot roll in May '18, within a month, I noticed a few holes had developed, now, 2 months since installing, an entire 25 foot stretch has developed cracks and holes that fall apart to the touch, leaving your fingers black and sooty, and the weeds are lovin' it. The other half of the roll is starting to deteriorate as well. It literally turns to black dust when you touch it - just like the cheap stuff that falls apart when the Sun hits it. These are placed right next to a previous purchase of the same product that has been out in the weather for 2 seasons - and the older fabric is still bullet-proof.
Not willing to buy another roll to see if this was a fluke - if this is the newest version, they might want to change the name to 12 DAY Weed Barrier

This stuff is great. I can't speak to its durability as we put it out this season, but it seems very thick and I have no concerns about it lasting through the winter. It was a pain to lay it down when you have plants in the ground, but it's so worth it! I think I've already gotten that time back in not weeding. We have quite a bit of mulch on top of ours and there can be a few weeks that grow on top here and there (stubborn things), but they are so easy to pull. It really keeps our vegetable and flower garden neat without any ongoing effort. One slightly concerning thing is about how water does seem to run right off of it. I think it will go through it, but if you mound your plants, you might want a bigger hole in the material to allow more water through. This is a benefit of mulching because we added mulch in our vegetable garden and I think it helped to keep the water in place and allow it to seep through to the roots. Relatively new gardener so I can't compare it to other material, but I am glad I bought it.

When I purchased my house, a poorly maintained and completely overrun with weeds garden came with the house. I bought four rolls of weed barrier from different manufacturers and this stands out head and shoulders above the rest. It's much thicker and much easier to work with. The competitors products were prone to ripping when being secured to the ground and then being cut to create openings for plants, whereas as you can just unroll this, secure it, and cut it without any problems.
What I really like about this is with how sturdy it is I can cut hatches in for my vegetable garden. Cut out three sides of a large square or rectangle and fold the barrier back, then put in a tomato plant, plant a row of lettuce, etc. Then in the fall just close the hatch and secure it with a sod stable. Come back next spring, remove a few weeds that managed to push up right at the seam I cut, and I'm good to go. The thinner stuff lacks the durable to be used like that.
Water wise it does slowly allow water to seep through. So a generous layer of mulch is needed on the top so that when it rains the mulch can initially retain the water and then it can seep through this barrier.

I was able to make 90 grow Bags! I cut the 4 foot material width down to two 2 foot x 15" pieces. Folded over the seam, stapled up the seam with 7-8 standard desktop staples. Then bunched up the material with a tightened zip tie to close the bottom up, then turned it inside out. The material is workable, but sturdy and breathes very well, permeable to water. Highly recommended for medium sized grow bags. The Chestnut trees I have in them are growing wild!!!
Doesn't break down or let grass poke through.

I've used various Weed Barrier from HD, Lowes, and Ace. All of those either became very fragile or let weeds or grass through(Yes I place mulch). This product however has surprised me and continues to work well into the second year. The material is thicker than most barriers are major stores and is on par price wise(can be a bit more expensive on amazon depending on seller or time of year). It allows water to seep through very quickly, for a thick barrier, which in my use was perfect. It's a barrier, there isn't much else to write about.
