This truly solved the issue of leaving our patio door open to allow the dogs access outside. Previously, I was using one of those magnetic mesh screens, but it doesn't help with the heating and cooling of my house. This was easy to assemble, great customer service when I had an issue with a screw that was stuck. I had to adjust placement as I want to be ability to close the patio door and lock it when we weren't home and the dogs didn't need to be out. Rather than use the locking mechanism they sent, I simply placed the panel on the outer track. This way I can close my patio and engage the alarm. The only issue I had was that the door would then not open wide enough to easily get in and out if you are a larger person. To rectify this, I trimmed the plastic stoppers on these stationary door. I just need to add insulation to close the gap when it's open. But now the flies heat and cold cannot get in as easily as an opening or a mesh screen. Since it is on the outside tracks, it doesn't have the support from the door so it would bend a little bit, to shore it up, I added a tiny L bracket in the center and now it is solid.

I have an older dog that needs to go outside during the night or she will have an accident from time to time. I was tired from waking up several times in a row during the night (literally) so I bought this. Installation was super easy and it fits perfectly. We bought some more weatherstripping to cover all the small gaps and put a stick behind the door so it can't be opened. Now my dogs can get in and out whenever they want to and I get my sleep.

There are serious flaws in this design. The door was too high for my standard sized patio door. I called the toll free number and was told to cut the height adjustment panel as this has been an issue for other customers.I took it to a machine shop and had nearly 3/4" removed. It still didn't fit and that is when I noticed the screws that attached this piece to the door should have been flat heads and not hex heads. I went to the hardware store and purchased the correct screws, countersunk the existing holes so that the screws fit flush with the panel and installed them. It was only after this that I was finally able to put in the pet door. The screws an the sides of the door should also be flush fitting and not round for a better fit with the weather stripping. Also, the weather stripping supplied with the product is crappy. I ended up making another trip to the store where I purchased wider and thicker weather stripping. I sincerely believe that you should consider making these changes in your design, especially in the height. Having to cut the adjustment panel weakens the sturdiness of the door. I will not recommend this product to any of my friends.

Positives: I absolutely LOVE this pet door and so does Prozac, my 16 week old Dachshund. I had it installed in a matter of minutes and he was coming and going after being bribed with 2 treats. It fits and looks very nice. I plan on installing the included latch at some point, but for now, a short length of PVC pipe is quite sufficient.

Negatives: the included weather stripping is only 1/4 inch high and was not sufficient to properly seal the space between the sliding door and the pet door, especially where the screws to join the 2 sections of the modular design are. Once installed, the seal is fairly easy to remove if you take your time. Pull it to stretch it out at a 45 degree upward angle and use a credit card (or something similar) as needed to gently help it peel away. Okay, that's the only negative I see for now but I will add any more if and when they occur.

What an awesome door! I got the Small Modular Dog Door for my cat, who weighs about 11 pounds. Overall it's the same width as the version with the cat flap, but the opening is taller and the dog door has a magnetic closure. The item shipped quickly and arrived undamaged. It was fairly easy to assemble, although I did have some trouble with removing some of the pre-installed screws so I could put the two pieces of the door together. (I'm a 90 pound woman with weak hands - my boyfriend had no trouble with this at all.) The door was very easy to install, and fit perfectly into my sliding patio door track. I did remove the lock plate from the adjoining door frame, which lets the pet door sit flush up against the frame, and actually makes a pretty tight seal. It's not perfect, but I wound up not even using the weather stripping that came with the door, and I don't notice any kind of draft coming in. I love that this door blends in so well with my existing door frame and hardware - most of my neighbors didn't even notice it was there until I pointed it out. I live in a first floor apartment in a sketchy neighborhood, so I don't want the door to be super obvious to everyone passing by. And of course, the benefit of keeping the cat box on the porch goes without saying. My cat figured out how the door works in under 10 minutes, and absolutely loves being able to let himself out so he can tease the neighborhood dogs whenever he wants.
