Happy but not for under 4

My 4 year old and I made these sock puppets and had so much fun creating the characters and laughing as we gave them names and voices and hair and eyes. Such a fun project. Until my twins (3) got home. The 3 year olds were just trying to play with the puppets but the adhesion wasn't firm enough that their less-gentle handling had the arms, mouths, pompoms and horns off in 5 min. 4 year old was pretty devastated, thinking he would be able to play puppets with his siblings. The foam arms and whatnots are just not stuck on very well.

This is such a great idea with good details like mustaches, glasses, bow ties, etc. but the quality is poor. The details don't stick well enough to the socks so they fall off. But we still had a lot of fun getting creative and making our sock puppets! So overall I gave it 4 stars but they definitely need better adhesion. (Should be able to gently pick up our finished sock puppet without the wing/mustache/bow tie all falling off.)

My son loves these puppets. They were a lot of fun to put together. My complaint is that some of the items stick fairly well and others don't stick too great. There were LOTS of various items to decorate the socks (so many that we had lots left over after decorating) so the choices were nice. I just wish they would have stayed together better. Maybe your child has to be older and treat them with more care. My son is only 2 so he was more rough on the poor guys and then was distraught when they started coming apart. Oh well. Next one we make I will be sewing.

Both kids (ages 4 and 2) loved making and playing with these. Comes with way more pieces than you'd need which are easy to apply (adhesive backs), and it's easy for the kids to design and decorate their own unique sock puppets. Some of the pieces do lose their stick after a lot of play, but if you run out of eyes you can always use a donut instead.
