This mermaid puppet is so cute. My daughter picked her out because she loves Melissa and Doug products. This is a very high quality item and a steal at $10.00 prime.We didn't spend a lot of time actually with the puppet due to it being a Cristmas gift. The person we gave "Shelly" (this was the name was on her tag) is a professional who works with children on a daily basis. I feel this item is made well and should bring years of enjoyment to all that use her.
Shelly has a small wooden rod that attaches to her hand so you can move her with ease.
Her dress, jewelry, hair and the materials used on the body are tops.
You don't have to use the rod, you can easily enough use only your hand.
We also bought the little 12 pack sea creature finger puppet pack ( to go along with her sea theme )

Love Melissa and Doug puppets. When our granddaughter was two we bought the theater and a couple puppets and every year for Christmas we buy her a couple more puppets. This year was the mermaid and the ballerina. They're a fun yearly gift theme for us to do with her. Running a little low on options now but not out of choices yet.

I bought four of these for my 4 year-old niece for Christmas. She LOVES them! Her mom was worried she wouldn't enjoy them because they weren't "princess-y," but she took to them right away.
