Good Wavemaker, but Vortech's are better if using an Apex controller
KarenJanuary 7, 2017
I liked this wavemaker. It worked well and seemed durable. I upgraded to Vortech pumps in order to sync with an Apex controller. The Vortech's are more powerful and much more adjustable, as far as allowing for different wave patterns. Also, the controllability through the computer is unbeatable, with the Vortech's, in my opinion. The cost for the Vortech's is comparable, if you already are using an Apex controller. If not this is a great wavemaker that I would purchase again.

Works Wonderfully Well
ChezmonsterJanuary 5, 2014
Controls the pumps well, easy set up, wonderful feeding option, and versatile in timing of the pumps. You can set the pumps to pump together or alternating to create wave affect. Timing of starting and stopping pumps is incremental. Precision is out the window though for gph. You have a minimum to maximum setting for the gallons per hour you want to pump. No specifics! I have a Hydor Koralia Nano 12V controllable pump, 100 - 260 gph. I would like something a little more specific, like 20 or 40 gallon increments. You are just guessing other wise! I have a thirty gallon fresh water tank. I would like a turn over flow of 4 times an hour. I would like 120 gph but you can't be that specific! Does timing, direction and feeding controls like a god send. Precision of the flow rate though is hit or miss in either direction.
basic controller needs special powerhead plugs
KathySeptember 22, 2013
This controller works fine with a few basic settings. But to plug powerhead cables into this controller, you need pin plugs not regular electric plugs. You'll need "controllable" power heads that have the correct plugs. It's hard to tell from online descriptions about the plug specifications, especially if you're not aware of the potential problem. I bought this Hydor controller to replace a more expensive broken model, different brand, that ran 2 Hydor power heads with normal plugs. Couldn't find plug adaptors so ended up getting new power heads.
