Very disappointed.
Arman•September 4, 2016
Very disappointed. I received the item and fresh out of the box it did not work. I was given a contact number to talk to a technician to trouble shoot the item. According to him, there may have been a fuse that needed to be replaced and since the fuse is "inside" of the machine it has to be sent for service. This is a major design flaw. An item that works with heat must not have a fuse that simply burns out and needs service. It must have a system that turns the machine off once it reached its maximum temperature to let it cool. similar to electric coffee pots or household circuit breakers .
I am glad I spoke to their service department. I will request a refund and will not give this item another chance.

Excellent quality and build!
Lowest Setting is still too high!
Drakeil•July 31, 2016
After having a disastrous experience with a lesser model that only had a slot screw control for temperature control I decided to give this higher end one that had a actual knob for adjusting the temperature setting and a built in thermometer to check the temperature a try. I wound up getting similar bad result and I believe this is because the lowest setting, slightly beneath "1", is still too high at 250 degrees F for 5 mil pouches: 2 out of three form bubbles in them no matter what type of carrier I use and is way too high for 3 mil with looks pock marked with bubbles after use in a carrier. That temp is only good for 7 and 10 mil pouches. I know the manufacturer monitors these reviews so i will await their response so I may see if there is a way to lower the temperature of this unit more. If I do not hear from them in 48 hours I am permanently returning this unit and never dealing with TLC again as this was a major waste of my time: I have up to 2500 laminations to do of various sizes. This is a shame as I see professionals using this unit at conventions but they only use 10 mil pouches up to 8.5x11 inches.

I was tasked to purchase a new laminator for work as our old consumer-level laminator was not doing such a great job. I did a quick search and found this one. Anything that is made out of metals and is not plastic like a toy is a plus in my book.
I received it a few days later, and it was black and not white beige like the photo shows, and looks pretty slick. I then unpackaged it (very simple) and tested it out on the instruction sheet that it came with.. our 3mil laminating pouch worked excellent on "2", much better than our old one. The warm up time was acceptable, and the speed was quick. I like that it has a button to start/stop the roller.. I think that will keep the machine working for longer.
The only negative for me is that you NEED TO KEEP THE BOX OR YOU VOID THE WARRANTY. Seriously? This machine has a 5 year warranty, but I need to keep your cardboard box for five years? Not sure how strict the manufacturer is with this, but that is kind of lame considering I now need to keep track of a cardboard box for five years, at work none-the-less.
Anyways, I haven't used this for a large job yet, but I will update this at a later date.

Love love love this laminator!!! After years of going to kinkos and dropping a fortune I'm glad I decided to just buy a nice professional unit. Worth every penny
