I've always just used wooden kebab skewers for roasting marshmallows and occasionally hot dogs... obviously they're less than ideal, being rather short and thin and flammable. I finally broke down and ordered these roasting forks and they're great! They are longer than they might seem in the photo so check the dimensions- I was very happy with the length upon receiving them but they're definitely longer than I assumed.
Also, each handle is not a different color- there are two each of red, blue, green, yellow. I might've preferred 8 different colors so you can tell whose is whose. But this works, and for smaller groups, each person gets 2 forks: for savory and sweet items. I may order another set in the future, and will probably put a magic marker black band around one set of 4 colors, and two black bands around another set of 4 colors, just so people can actually tell them apart.
Keeping them in a small bucket of water between roasting or immediately after is a great idea and has drastically helped with clean-up, especially getting marshmallow goo off the forks. The prongs are nice and semi-pointed for spearing items. I like the rawhide leather loop on the handles, and the wooden handle stays cool as you hold the metal shaft over the fire.
Highly recommend... they sure beat the random sticks we used to roast marshmallows as kids!

I like the handle grips on these forks - they make it easy to hold on to and to rotate (must have perfectly toasted marshmallows instead of the lump of charcoal variety). The only drawback is the length - if you were trying to toast marshmallows (or hot dogs - we've tried those as well and really like them with these forks) on a very large fire, you might have to be too close to the fire and get too hot. I knew the measurements, though, and checked it out before purchasing. With my firepit, the length is just right, and I'm looking forward to slightly warmer weather and many roastings/toasting to come!

I bought my wife a real nice firepit for Christmas and we got our kids and grandkids together and roasted hot dogs and topped the evening off toasting marshmellows. We used to try roasting hotdogs by using a piece of wire clothes hanger. We ended up trying to keep the hotdog on the wire and out of the firepit. We had the same problems when we tried toasting marshmellows. They would either burn or slide off the clothes hanger. Well, I looked on Amazon.com and found the solution. I purchased a set of 8 chrome plated Marshmellow Roasting Fork Set. And since the forks have multi colored handles, the grandchildren don't argue over who one of the forks belong to.(Previously if the marshmellow was burned to a chrisp because of those ol' clothes hangers, one of the kids would claim it was one of the other kids).

When we purchased our fire pit we knew we would be roasting marshmallows with the kids so we got this roasting fork set to go with the fire pit. I am so glad we did! There are 4 colors - 2 of each one so it's easy to keep track of which roasting fork belongs to whom. We've even had friends over when we've used these marshmallow roasting forks that they asked where we got them. They immediately went home and purchased a set from Amazon the next day and love them just as much.

TIP: after you pull off the marshmallow you get the sticky residue left behind. Stick the fork back into the fire and let the sticky residue burn to a crisp. It's then really easy to clean the forks by scraping off the burnt marshmallow. It's much easier to clean it that way than to try to clean it while the marshmallow is still sticky and white.

In addition to marshmallows, we have used these roasting forks to roast hot dogs in the fire pit and they work just fine for that purpose as well. Just make sure you place BOTH prongs into the food item you're wanting to roast. It keeps it more secure and prevents the food item from falling off the fork and into the fire.

We purchased these along with a fire pit for a Halloween Party. It worked out great! Everyone was able to gather around the pit to keep warm and roast marshmallows.

They have nice colored wood handles. You get two of each color so that helped us keep track of them! The length was comfortable enough that you didn't have to stand too close to the fire place and they seem fairly sturdy. If you plan to use these for smaller children I would probably recommend that you look for ones that are a little longer just to be safe but these are perfectly fine as long as parents are assisting.
