I was blown away by this NiCd charger. I had a new Trinity 6 cell micro-zip pack battery sitting in my closet for 10 years in its original unopened packaging. The first charge took about 5 minutes, the second one about 15 minutes, and the last one about 2.5 hours. I used on my mini-1.0 after the first two charges to fully drain the battery. Now my car is good to go. The trinity motor is happy and fast.

so far it works great I made sure to unplug it as soon as it truned green, just 2 b on the safe side. I wish my old radioshack charger worked like this but that gave me false reading.
Smart Enough For My Robot Carl
A. McD✓ Verified Purchase•June 20, 2023
For the prior two years of running continuously 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, my GoPiGo3 robot Carl has used a Tenergy 1025 6-12v 1A-2A Smart Charger on the 1A setting for a 2.7 hour recharge period followed by a 6-8 hour "playtime" period.
With that charger on the 2A setting, Carl did not reliably recognize the charging state, nor the transition from charging to trickle charging, so I only used the 1A setting.
For the last week, Carl has been successfully using a new charger - the Tenergy 1005 "RC Battery" 7.2-12v 0.9A-1.8A smart charger on the 1.8A setting. This shortens the recharge period to 1.5 hours but raises the final charging battery temperature to 130degF (54degC) which can damage the batteries.
Carl is now using the 0.9A setting which gives 0.5C charging for his eight AA cell 2000mAh NiMH battery and keeps my robot "happy" with the final battery temperature under the recommended maximum of 113degF (45degC).

At least it works, eh?

If speedy charging is what you are after this charger is not for you. It charges fine, but does take awhile due to low amperage rating. It can charge smaller packs out of its "rated" charging bracket, but do so at your own risk. I have a 7.2V 700mAh Ni-cd that I charge with this and as per the instructions it is lower capacity than minimum. It argues with me each time I try and charge it as it seems to "know" the battery is smaller than it likes. By simply zapping the 200mAh with a 12V source for a split second it fools the charger into thinking it is larger than it actually is and will begin charging it. There have been no temperature issues with this as I always use the supplied thermister as per the instructions on all charges. It does seem to peak charge every battery I have tried, which is a plus. This charger can also charge market rechargeable batteries if a cell/battery holder is used with the appropriate adapter. Futaba, Airtronics, JR to name a few offer up to an eight-cell holder: B0015H1ASS for example. This will keep my aftermarket AAA, AA, C, D, 9V rechargeables working long after the phony wall mount charger burns up.
