I wear mine on a necklace in the Boundary waters every year. Very sturdy case and if the compass inside has a problem just unscrew it and insert a new button compass. While not used for specific coordinates, it works really well for basic direction. I am buying my son one this year so he can learn how to use a compass.

Great compass as compared to those cheap, plastic Chinese models. This compass could actually be trusted to get you home if you lost your main compass. Outstanding compass for a survival kit or tin.
