but the "x" locking mechanism doesn't seem sturdy, but once he reinforced it

I cannot say enough about this adjustable bench...it is absolutely terrific. You don't have to worry about where you step off because every inch holds you up and the bench didn't rock or tip, or sway, or bend, or fall over! Well worth the money. It's not too heavy, but it's certainly strong and takes a beating. You'll have plenty of height to reach even a 9' ceiling.

After using this thing for a minute. It is my professional opinion and first hand experience that the one thing I don't like about this bench is if your not paying attention when your folding this thing up or unfolding it you will damage your hands because it will slam shut or open and those digits that you hold dear will suffer.
Be Warned.
Other than that I love this thing.
