Glad I bought it!
Amazon Customer•September 20, 2017
Great looking trailer, directions were good, glad I bought it. Electrical and wiring clips were probably the most disappointment. Malone service was fantastic. I'll probably order the trunk for additional weight and storage. I've had people ask me how much I spent on it, it's obviously high quality construction. I also added the retractable tongue kit, and kick stand, glad I did.
Love this trailer package!

At first I was really anxious to buy such an expensive item online and sight unseen. However, I have been nothing but happy with this purchase. My husband and I have already driven the trailer over 200 miles in search of paddling opportunities, and we've been thrilled with how easy it was to build, how easy it is to use, and the overall performance of the trailer. We pull it on our hitch behind our 2010 Toyota Prius, and it works great! Just last night we got two compliments from strangers, and one guy even wanted a photo of the trailer.
We're pretty handy, so we built it over two afternoons, and had it out on the road as soon as we had it registered. Only three small issues, (1) we're probably going to add tall flags to the sides, so that people don't accidentally merge in behind us too quickly. The lights on the sides are great, but most folks don't expect a Prius to have a trailer, and assume they can swing in behind us without looking. (2) Here in PA, they need to make sure it wasn't a 'kit' to make sure it didn't need an additional inspection. Since 'kit' wasn't on our MCO, and we had a make and model year, we didn't need the extra inspection. And (3) the load bars have rough ends and can scratch a kayak hull when you hoist it up if you aren't careful. We're gluing on racquetballs as a guard against that.
Bonus: I've added a picture of a PA beaver dam, so you can remember why you bought this thing when you're looking for the right bolts during assembly!

Very nice trailer. Easy instructions and great customer support if you have questions.
Buyer Beware - Malone Quality Control Is Not Good
Brian Short•May 18, 2017
After assembling the trailer and the Retractable Tongue Kit, I discovered the various wiring harnesses don't fit together. After being told by Malone to 'cut away part of the plug to make it fit', that solution did not work. At this point, I have a trailer with no lights that can't be licensed. You would think that someone at Malone trailers would ensure their various components actually work together before they ship them and then tell the customer to make repairs themselves to make it work.
Kayak Trailer Really worth it!!
Peter C. LaBudde•July 29, 2016
I found that the parts are very well organized in bags. Each is identified by the next step in building the trailer. I think the instructions stated 2 or so hours for build, and I am fairly handy and it did not take the entire 2 hours. Further, the trailer had a very small insignificant cap ends missing from the bag. Mostly because they were lost in transit by the transportation company. They sent me new ones in days of notice.
It is very well made and does well at highway speed with 2 kayaks on it. I would highly recommend this for those people who do NOT want to put the kayaks on top of the vehicle, which my Jetta sedan can't do.
