I own this saddle on my MASI single speed hipster fixie that I built for urban cruising. Please check out the pics I provided. This saddle is not for touring, as the nose is quite long. But for riding in a stretched out prone position, such as road bars or bullhorns (like mine), it is essential. If you are into touring, then I suggest a Brooks B17 or the new Cambium, but for racing or time trials, this is the saddle to own.

By using the supplied adjusting wrench and applying the proofhide cream, it will soften up nicely and conform to your 'arse', quickly and provide outstanding comfort and probably become an heirloom to hand down to your children!

No kidding, its that good! Buy it!

Comfortable. My only gripe is the rail design limits pushing the saddle further back.
Simply the best.

There are a great many saddles out there to choose from, most cheaper than a Brooks, most lighter than a Brooks, but none more comfortable, while retaining its structural integrity than a Brooks. This is not a seat for those who ride infrequently, as it takes a good many miles (at least 50) on the saddle before it is worn in enough to appreciate both its comfort and its body shaping capabilities. I have three MTBs (Giant, Trek, Scott) and five Road bikes (Pinarello (2), Orbea (2) and a Basso), and on ALL my bikes, I have Brooks saddles, ranging from the B15 to the B17. If you want a saddle that will last a lifetime and beyond, enjoy actually sitting on your bike without pain for hours at a time, and want to simply have the best that there is to offer at any level of the cycling world, then there is no other choice than a Brooks saddle--the B15 for those who are pure and hardy racers, or the B17 for the all rounder, aggressive or not. In short, Brooks is simply the best there is, at any price.

I own 9 bicycles and all have Brooks Leather seats. In 75 I bought a Schwinn Sports Tourer and it came with a Brooks Professional, I still have and use that saddle. I also have Brooks B17's and decided to try the Swallow out on my newest carbon road bike. I bought that one in black and I love it. It's more comfortable then the Professional and is now my favorite seat. I bought the Dark Brown Swallow for my other road bike. I usually use baseball glove conditioner or boot oil on all my saddles. Then place a rag and seat cover over it to eliminate the leather oil from getting on my shorts. I noticed when I oil the B17's and Professional the black color comes off when I wipe the seat. Not with both of the Swallows, they are clean and have thinner leather than the other saddles and in my opinion break in faster. I highly recommend the Swallow.

Forget the hype about Brooks saddles being torture to break in, tough on the undercarriage, etc. If the saddle and bike geometry are properly fitted to the rider then numbness, chafe and pressure sores shouldn't occur. Poorly-fitted, any saddle will cause trauma. Start this one with the tensioning nut backed off a bit and gradually tighten it as you 'ride in' the leather.
I'm quite pleased with the saddle itself but disappointed that for nearly $400 it didn't ship with Proof Ride and a cloth.
