Hard too tell from the photos but the inner surface is not smooth, has little friction ridges.
Super expensive

Very expensive for what it is. Didn't last long. Was fun though before it broke.
cracked

Fun but one of the two discs we bought broke during its first use by my 12 year old son. Would have given it a 5 if not for the crack on the first day.
worked for both me as an adult and my four year old liked to ride it too

Worked well, only had a chance to use it on little hills, worked for both me as an adult and my four year old liked to ride it too, he did better with a longer sled that had a rope to pull it but as far as riding goes, this one worked for him as well.
Gets brittle and cracks in very cold weather.

Not heavy duty. We bought two and broke them within 5 runs on the sled hill.
With a 70 lb kid riding the sled in 10 degree weather, both sleds the we bought cracked. Yes, there were small jumps involved (less then 1 foot high), but that is to be expected from a sled, I would think.
These might be ok above 30 degrees with a kid under 50 lbs, so I gave an extra star for that.
