Well-made, beautiful, creative play toy
HamFam•September 3, 2017
This is my favorite toy ever. So well made, I believe it will last forever. It is nice just to look at, like an art piece, but the kids love it, too. Our 3.5 year old will play with it for an hour at a time. Open-ended, creative play, that everyone in our family enjoys, from our 1 year old up to the grandparents!

Beautiful, multifaceted heirloom quality "toy" that even I love playing with!

Gorgeous wooden "toy", worthy of showcasing in your child's room, always. An heirloom piece that can and will be played with for years, to be sure. I purchased these for my now 23 month old son last Christmas, and we've played together pretty much everyday with these! His older sisters 3 and 5 love them too - possibly more. I seriously love stacking this in different ways to create waves for Grimm's Spiels and Holz 4 little wooden puzzle boats. He mainly loves knocking them down lol. These are very friendly for vesitile, interactive and independent play, which is important to me as my child's primary care giver and educator. Highly recommend getting both the WaterWaves and SailBoats together for hours of simple, beautiful play! There's a reason they sell many of Grimm's puzzles at Land of Nod, but no reason to pay $80+ for this particular piece. If you have to see these in person before you buy, definitely check out similar sets at Land of Nod just to familiarize with the brand but I would always check Amazon before splurging there. I always find the price is at least $20- $40 cheaper.
This Christmas I'm hoping Santa will bring the rest of Grimm's Elements puzzle sets. Must have Fire, Flower and Rainbow sets at the very least!
Just one FYI, tiny warning - this puzzle is made out of natural wood with natural stain. It is not glossy at all and will take a few tumbles but not like plastic. The wavy end bit of the upper most piece unfortunately did break off after about 4 months of play due to falling off a shelf onto another hard object. However it broke in such a way that it can be repaired with woodglue..probably. Eventually lol. Either way, it's wood so it can be fixed much easier than any of our broken plastic toys.
Also, it came to our house minimally packaged. Just wrapped in clear plastic shrinkwrap with a Grimm's sticker. I'm not sure if they've changed the packaging since then, but I actually kind of prefer not having to deal with bulky, awkward wrappings.
