Great quality, seat is a tad small
riverlady•September 5, 2018
We bought this for camping to complement a beloved similar, smaller chair bought at a festival years ago. This one is not as comfortable. We compared the two to see why; we think it's because the seat could use one more slat to better support your legs, and the other chair had a very slight convex bow to it that somehow makes it more comfy. That said, we take this one camping and it looks elegant in camp alongside the partnering side table.
LOVE this chair

whether you are on the beach or sitting by your fireside this chair is comfortable and puts away so easily. I had one from 20 years ago and decided I needed another one. Great to strap on my kayak then have a nice seat to picnic and eat lunch. Even though you got rid of the seat cushion ( :-( ) I just love this easy comfy chair.
It's a lovely chair

Nicely crafted and pretty. It'd be great for sitting around a campfire or listening to music at an outdoor concert. Unfortunately, it's not going to ward for us because we really need something that will also work as a beach chair. This chair s too short in the seat and hits the back of our legs in the wrong place. Maybe if there was an ottoman to go with it? Or maybe the glider version would be better for our purpose?
Heavy and weak.

I have another similar chair from Byer of Maine that I purchased 20+ years ago. At this point that older chair is a bit worn out and dirty so I bought a new one. The new chair, broke after only 20-ish sittings. Even if it hadn't broken, compared to the older chair it is about 50% thicker and about 100% heavier which lowers its utility a lot. The new chair looks much nicer than the old one.
To be fair, I have not contacted Byer of Maine for a replacement. I'm disappointed in the weight and thinkness so I'm not sure I want to fix it.

I LOVE these chairs so much I now have three

I LOVE these chairs so much I now have three. The first two are of a different, lighter-colored wood and were made in Maine. The chairs are now produced in Vietnam using kiln-dried Keruing wood which apparently is a hardwood that is more weather-resistant and resists fungi and mildew.
Since I have back issues, I find this chair perfect as the chair seat doesn't sag like most camp chairs do. It is comfortable, easy to carry and doesn't take up much space when folded up--it's an ingenious design.
I would suggest the company offer a seat cushion--which I believe they did in the past. (I use a folded-up fleece throw as a cushion.)
