I ordered this kit for my dad, who has been model railroading since he was 12. Upon retirement he was finally able to create his dream HO scale layout which is a small scale replica of the town he grew up in during the 1950s-1960s. This general store was a perfect addition to his layout. Great value for the money, good sturdy quality materials, easy to assemble.

I have had several HO Firehouses... none from "Life like"..

PROS
This one is a "keeper".. great detail, multiple colors and textures ....many extras ..
BUT, it has a big footprint (dimensions don't give a sense of its real size)
It takes up extra real estate on your layout. If that is not an issue...You will love this one ..
I glued one main door half open..... to allow a pumper truck (5 piece fire vehicle set.. including a helicopter on Amazon) to "peak out" of the open door .. a nice touch....

Only CONS..... It takes time and patience to assemble.. many small parts,.. instructions are "minimal"
Be ready to " trail fit" many parts .. I worked on it a while.... then went back to it in the afternoon..
took a break.. to allow partially completed model to dry and to review instructions... again..

Also.. there are "extra parts".. looks like this one has another model which uses some of the same parts ( i.e. windows)
pay close attention to this issue..

"illuminated" ... on my layout.. it is a "stunner"

Pain in the butt, finished product looks great too many useless pieces!

Aot of small pieces and I am not very adept at bracing the pieces as the glue dries but over all a nice kit.

Comes with a single sheet of instruction with just one view of model. Not for beginners! Rated it four stars because one window frame is missing in the proper size. Created my own which works well enough for no one to notice.
