Its one of those push down stoppers. I had a lot of trouble keeping it down. I went and bought an old fashioned rubber stopper for the drain. I would hit it w/ my foot while in the tub it would pop up then I'd fight it to get it back down before my water drained. If you are patient go for it. I couldn't get to the hardware store fast enough. The plus side unscrewing the plug and using an old fashion stopper gives me a big drain hole so no hair clogs.
