WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE??

Are your plants dry on top and root rotting below or wet on top and dry below? Without this gizmo, its guesswork. I bought this after nearly killing some fruit trees with too much water. Soil on top....dry dry. Soil below....wet wet. Seems like a no brainer and wish I'd had it long ago. Works great! Plant LOVE!!
Replaced the dead battery and good to go

After 9 months had a problem with getting any reading on the meter....stayed at zero. Contacted customer support and got a tech right away who advised it was probably the battery. Battery is standard AA and can be accessed by removing the two screws on each side of the meter and then prying the back off with a small screwdriver. Replaced the dead battery and good to go. FYI

It is ruggedly constructed. What I particular like is it can probe the moisture content 24 inches below the soil surface, not just an inch or two. This is especially important when deciding when to water our fruit trees. With the water restrictions in CA, one doesn't want to wter unless it is absolutely necessary. Thus, this device is a great water saver.

With the drought in California, I am needing to water a few selective pine trees. Reviewing scientific arborist articles, I learned that what counts is the moisture level two feet deep, not just six or eight inches like most moisture meters read for gardening. This soil moisture meter has a two foot probe that is sufficiently durable and rigid enough to drive down into the soil. It is working for my needs.

Like others who bought this product, I went through so many meters that were flimsy and quickly broke. This is the best meter ever and I anticipate having it for a lifetime. I am a hobby orchardist in Napa, California and this meter is great: I get readings for a fig or pomegranate that show nothing in the top 12-15 inches of soil and then it hits a deeper zone where it pegs at 10 (wet). If I still had my flimsy shorter meters, I'd be wasting my precious well water thinking they were dry. Never again!
