These Boots are just right
Gene328✓ Verified PurchaseSeptember 5, 2023
Fed-EX delivered these boots on the day they were suppose to arrive. Thanks Fed- Ex, Good Job!!
I use Amazon Prime mostly because of the two day delivery. I'm a little disappointed with that, "the two day delivery". Most of the time it doesn't come in two days. Another thing is it seems like when I get free shipping I have to pay sales tax and when I pay for shipping I don't have to pay tax. Hum. If you read my reviews you might think I comeplane a lot, and you're probably right. When I make a mistake, I always here about it, but it makes me try harder, that's why I comeplane. Maybe they'll try harder to do what they said they're going to do. Thanks Fed Ex! For doing a good job.
Now, about the boots. I read some of the reviews and liked what I read. One thing is the price is good as far as compared to other ones
go. I usely buy Sorrel pack boots, but I've got to where I don't really like them any more. They keep my feet warm but they don't last very long and mostly the price is too much. And they're made in China. This is one time something made in the USA cost less. Nice going Kamik. When I took them out of the box I really liked the way they looked. I couldn't see them that well in the pic. It was to dark and they are black. Maybe I can't see that well these days. Any way they look good. I like the stile, "slip-on". In the reviews some said to get a size larger than your boot size and so I did. That's right, that's what I say too. When I first put them on I thought they were a little snug, but after I took my
dog for a walk, about a mile, when I got back they fit just right. It was about 25 degrees and my feet didn't get cold at all. We'll see, its going
to get colder. It's only November 8, 2013 now. Another thing is they're easy to slip on and off, when I go in and out of the house and they're pretty lite. I don't have to do a I lot of tying and untying. I think everything is going to be alright.
I recommend this seller and these boots.

Here's an update: It's 11/17/15 and I'm still using these boots. I just got them out, ready to use them this year. There's a little ware on the bottom of the sole's but otherwise they look pretty good. I'm glad I got these boots.

Another update: Todays date- 3/3/2017. I got through another winter. (almost, a couple more weeks and the snow will be gone). These boots are in pretty good shape. I might get another pair of liners for next year. I'm still glad I got these boots. I noticed the new ones are $10.00 less than the ones I'm wearing. I'm going to go ahead and order another pair of Boots, at that price. And I take it back about FedEx. After I gave that first review they started dropinng my packages off at a store about 5 miles from my house. It took me a long time to get them to start bringing my packages to my home again.
Compares well with a more expensive boot

The basic outer shell of this boot seems to be well constructed. I did manage to find some leaks around the seams between materials. The inner sock is barely adequate and is the biggest shortcoming of this boot. The material used is the same stuff they use to insulate thermal pizza bags. It's fairly rigid and does not fully form fit your foot to take up the space and pad you against the boot outer shell. With a better inside sock and more durable draw strap buckles, this boot would be 5 stars.
At this price range, however, this is a great boot. I compared these to my previous set of boots which were $250+ 10 years ago. These are noticeably lighter and the outer shell is smaller overall. With the inner sock swapped into these boots from my old set, it's a home-run.
Once you pull the sock for the first time you will discover that this boot has no insole. Install one.
Yes, there are things I can pick on about this product but at this price range, this is a great boot and just needs a couple of things to make it perfect for lightweight work/fun in the snow or muck. You can drive your car in these. That particular task was a challenge with my previous set of boots. They were a bit more extreme (heavy).
This boot takes some breaking in. As the materials soften up, it does strap down easier and take your foot better. Some water repellant spray over the stitches and seams is a good idea. I did manage to find a small trickle in one boot with my foot completely immersed in water to my shin.
First pair was defective and the actual fit was a little small.

First off, we've bought Kamik boots for our three boys for the past 3-4 years, and we've always been very happy with the value and durability of these boots. Our kids can't seem to wear them out before they outgrow them. All of the boys have always said that the boots keep their feet warm regardless of the temps, even through last winters stretch of -20 for several days. Granted the kids aren't out in those temps for very long, but you don't need to be in those temps fro very long before things start to get cold.

This year I found myself needing new boots. So I've been looking for a tall cold weather pull on boot that I could use for snow blowing and just messing around with the kids in the back yard. I had narrowed my choices down to the tall insulated Muk style rubber boots and this snowmobile style Kamik boot (Greenbay 4 Cold Weather Boot). The Kamik is about 40% cheaper than the Muk boot and the reviews very positive. Since I already have some non-insulated mud boots, I didn't see the point in spending more money on the insulated ones, when the Kamik boots should meet my needs.

I typically wear a 12.5 in boots and shoes. I ordered a size 13 as I'd rather run a little larger in a winter boot so you can wear thicker socks. The boots arrived in 2 days (prime member) and everything appeared to be in good order until I took a closer look at the left boot. It looks like the machine missed the about a 4" long section when it was sewing the upper nylon portion of the boot to the lower rubber base. There were no needle marks in the rubber at all, it simply got missed. I tried the boots on anyway to make sure the size was right...I'm glad I did. While the size 13 fits, it was a little tight. It wasn't so tight as to cause pain, but I was wearing pretty thin athletic socks. I put a thicker sock on and the boot was very snug, again, not painful, but you don't want a tight boot that impedes circulation during the winter, you want the boots loose enough to allow for good circulation to keep your toes warm. I know that occasionally these boots will loosen up after you wear them a bit, but I just didn't want to risk it.

So I contacted Amazon and told them the originals were defective and that I needed a size 14. The replacement boots were here within 2 days (thumbs up on Amazon service...as always). The new boots appear to be made very well, I think the first set was a simple defect, that probably should've been caught before they went out the door, but no real harm done. The new size 14's fit much better. They're a little loose with thinner socks on, but they fit just right with a thicker sock. There's a little bit of slip in the thinner socks, but the adjustable ankle strap helps with that. Again, I'd rather have them fit a little big than be too tight.

I've worn the boots out into the cold 5-10 degrees the past couple of mornings, and they're very comfortable and seem to be very warm. I may not need a heavier sock in these boots as long as it doesn't get below -10. The boots are a little on the heavy side, but let's face it, these are a size 14....there wasn't anyway the boots would be lite with that much rubber on the tread. The traction appears to be top notch and the tread is deep. The boot comes up to about mid calf on me. The top of the boot is just under 15" from the ground. The top draw string is nice and helps trap the heat in and keep the cold and snow out.

Everything about these boots indicates that it's built well, yes I had a defective first pair, but that happens sometimes. The boots are warm, tall, and the service from Amazon was great. Two sets of boots in 4 days, you can't really beat that. I deducted one star since the first par was defective, but other than that I'm very satisfied. I think buying shoes on line is always going to be a crap shoot as to whether or not the size/fit will be correct. A size 12 in Nike, isn't always a size 12 in Adidas, so why should snow boots be any different.

Great winter boots will outlast me

I bought my first pair of Kamik boots in 1988. That pair had floppy uppers supported by the inside felt lining. The lug was not as tight and construction was looser than the these, but they were a solid a pair of boots. The first pair was used during Colorado and Canadian winters for 25 years and never leaked and never failed. The felt eventually fit my feet like a glove and it was like putting on an old friend. Those boots were taken from me by someone who hopefully needed them more than me a few years ago. With the lack of snow in Colorado over the last few years, I didn't need them as much anyway. I was recently invited on an ice fishing trip in the high mountains and last week I ordered a new pair for the trip. The new pair has an insulated upper boot now and the lug is very solid. I know from experience that the felt lining will be tight at first and will wear in perfectly over time. I have 10.5 EE foot so I ordered size 11. I will need to wear them more before I start wearing socks to break them in. They were tight at first but after a couple miles of walking on the lake over snow and ice, they felt great. Morning temps were -22F and my feet were still warm. My toes will normally get cold but they were comfortable the entire time. With performance like this, and quality made in the USA, it's a no brainer. I may not last another 30 years but these boot will. Hopefully they will go to someone who needs them more then, just like my first pair.
