Good quality lathe file at a reasonable price

The file is made in Brazil. The Nicholson files have come up in quality since when they first started the off shore manufacturing. The file looks similar to the USA files and feels sharp with a precise cut pattern. It cuts very quickly through 1018 and 4130 steels. Given the price and quality it represents good value. I compared it to 2 Simmons made in India files and it is better quality and cuts much faster. Comparing it to my older USA files it is of similar quality. I would recommend purchasing it.

I ordered the single cut fine file, but was sent a double cut, coarse file.

Better geometry for finish filing on lathe work. Nicholson quality is pretty good. The smooth sides could be finished better to keep the edges from scratching the work. That's the point of a smooth side.
