The best personal fan for the money

I have been through three other personal fans before this one. They were the four inch high velocity fans with steel blades and they were terrible. I paid 11 to $12 for each one of those 3 fans and not one of them lasted more than a year. They were also Extremely Loud and ratrled alot and only had one speed setting. This fan is none of those things this fan is exactly what I needed. For just a few dollars more I have something that's a much higher quality it has two speed settings it comes with a stand and it's adjustable, but only up or down. The cord is also nice and long but it is not usb-powered and that reflects in the size of the motor they used. The thing is noticeably more powerful even on its lowest setting than any of those cheap $10 4 inch high velocity fans. USB powered fans simply cannot provide enough electricity to the motor to make the air flow more powerful. It even has a muscle indentation where you can put paper clips or push pins perfect for an office setting. The grill comes off pretty easily for cleaning; there's four little plastic clips. The fan is almost whisper-quiet and shouldn't disturb anybody much less you. My only complaints are only comes in white and you can't turn the fan left or right you just have to move the base. That being said I highly recommend this fan and I anticipated lasting much longer than my other ones if something changes I will come back and edit this review. Do yourself a favor and skip over those High Velocity usb fans theyre crap and this is much better. It stands about 10 to 12 in tall the court is about 6 foot long. The diameter of the blades are 6 in. Ive owned numerous Lasko fans at home and I swear by the brand. Lasko makes a dependable product and again I highly recommend any of their fans. No need to spend a fortune on Vornado just buy a Lasko.
Very quiet, and a nice breeze.

Twice a year, we reset our clocks for Daylight Saving Time. It really fouls up my sleep. Result? Insomnia.

In the summer, I got into the habit of running a 20 inch box-fan. Not only did it help with the heat, but the "pink noise", lulled me to sleep.
I have a small 6 inch fan but the bearings are going and my WD-40 wasn't going to buy me much more time, so I went looking for an inexpensive replacement. I was concerned that this fan might be too noisy, or have inadequate air flow. It turned out to be almost TOO quiet. The air flow is surprisingly strong, also.

Last night, I placed the fan on a desk some eight feet from where I sleep. Even at the slow speed (there are two), it blew on my face enough to be a bit distracting. The noise level was just a tad too soft, as well. But, what really surprised me is that I started to feel COLD and was force out of bed to turn the fan off. Apparently, my blankets trap body heat, normally a good thing. But the fan carries away the warmth above the blankets and make things a bit chilly underneath. Hmm, I hadn't considered the cooling effect.

Tonight I'll place the fan a bit closer and direct it away from me. That should do the trick. Leaving the fan on all night means a bigger power bill, but how much? I checked the fan's base label and it shows power consumption at 120 volts as 0.25 amps, or 30 watts. I suspect that the slower setting that I'm using will be about 15 or 20 watts. That translates into about 4.5 Kw\hrs in a month. At say 12 cents a Kw\hr, we're talking about 54 cents a month. Well, I can live with that. Now if I could just get rid of Daylight Saving Time.

I'll conclude by saying this fan is the quietest fan for it's size that I can remember hearing. It puts out a considerable breeze, as well.
The only thing that I didn't like is the white cord which is stiff and folded back and forth making it kinky. It's a petty complaint I suppose, but I have long wished that manufacturers would LOOP cords, instead.

One last thing, I have seen those "pink noise machines" with the motor inside to emulate fan noise. I tried one and the real fan sounded more soothing.
EXCELLENT FAN POWER, EASY TO CLEAN BLADES

EXCELLENT FAN POWER, SO EASY TO CLEAN, don't worry about dirty blades.

I LOVE LASKO FANS!!! They're by far the easiest to clean. No screws - just pop off the front piece with your fingers. I bought this 6" after replacing my 17" with a new one. It lasted 20 years!!!! Great quality.

Most fans don't allow for cleaning the blades so you're just blowing dust in your face. Not good for folks with allergies. Or anyone else.

Trifecta fan
Kim Hutsko✓ Verified PurchaseMarch 1, 2017
I had neighbors complain about a "loud humming noise" at night which I assumed was my floor stand Lasko fan that I bought at Walmart in a crazed panic one hot summer night last year when my 7 year old fan died. Which, btw, it WAS loud and DID have an awful hum. Thank you paper thin walls. Being the kind hearted person I am, at first I tried to test out a quiet night without a fan (for the first time in 20 years, minus a power outage/dead fan here and there) and it did not go over so well for me.

So I scoured through amazon looking for the quietest fan I could find. First I bought a miniature fan from amazon, based on reviews that it was quiet. No, it was not quiet. It only had 2 speeds and the lowest speed yielded a high pitch whining. (I'm able to sleep through both these fans btw, but alas, I'm paranoid about my neighbors. Actually, as I type this I hear them banging on the wall. I'm not even kidding.) So, I read some more reviews, took a leap of faith (I'm a hopeless romantic) - and I found this fan. And finally, there is NO humming and NO whining noise! Also, the wind it blows out on the lowest level is definitely enough to cool you off. Some of the reviews for this fan though did state it was so quiet you could not hear it - which I disagree with. You can absolutely hear it (and believe me, I'm on high alert) but it is a soothing sound. Definitely no humming or whining - but you can hear the wind blowing for sure. As of right now I would recommend this fan if you are looking for something to cool you off, that can serve as background noise, and doesn't have an annoying whining or high pitch noise to it - actually, this sounds like the fan trifecta! I'm hoping that my neighbors will be happy. And that I will not receive anymore calls from my homeowners association!

My only negatives and points off are that it required assembly and I would rather it had came assembled..and that it didn't come in a shipping box. Weird? It came unpackaged in its regular box so that everyone who walked by my door saw that I had ordered a Lasko fan. Which also sort of defeated my longing of being passive aggressive/stubborn in that I wanted to appease my neighbors without letting them know I put so much thought into their feelings (I mean, I purchased 2 fans here!). Ahh, again my kind heart. All in all I would recommend this fan for someone who is looking for the trifecta.
