Perfect suze for my oven
Dale Hatcher✓ Verified Purchase•January 1, 2015
Perfect suze for my oven. I love the turned up handles- makes it easier to lift, fits well in the oven and stores without taking up extra room . I used this pan 3 times this holiday season and it is soon becoming my favorite. It does have to be seasoned well, but it seasons easily. Great purchase!
Great large Paella pan

I have used this large pan a few times when we have company. It has worked great.
I did break it in properly which I think is critical. I did it outside on a hot gas grill because of the smoke. I put a light coating of vegetable oil and then turned the pan upside down so the oil doesn't pool in the bottom.
After a couple of times the pan turned from gray to deep black. The surface is very slick. Just don't scour it or you will have to reseason. Dry thoroughly or it will rust. Hello! It's steel.Nice large pan for company paella.

Perfect size for up to 6 or so people. The rice cooked perfect. I've even used it on the grill for a different taste. The seasoning of the pan is very straightforward. Highly recommended.

This pan is the way to go. I seasoned it then made my first batch of paella. Perfecto!
I think that the black steel is a great material and I really like the high sides.
I highly recommend the Paderno World Cuisine 15.75 Inch Black Steel Paella Pan.

Not usable on flat burners...
floele✓ Verified Purchase•December 16, 2012
I purchased the pan because of its depth and thought there couldn't be very much wrong with it. It's quite thin, but I don't consider that as a problem, it heats up quickly this way and is easier to handle than a heavy steel pan.
However, this pan is not usable on flat burners (like an electric kitchen stove). The bottom is (I'm not sure whether it happened during seasoning) shaped a bit like a bowl and not flat, so there is very little contact with the stove and it doesn't sit properly on the burner. That doesn't matter for gas stoves, but in my case the pan is pretty much unusable. The vendor of the pan also did not respond to my inquiry about this issue. So either I got a defective pan or it's just this bad. Luckily, I could just turn it in to Amazon and can buy a different pan now.
