Not up to the task

We had a Royal cross-cut shredder for years, and it went to shredder heaven. I selected this one based on price and reviews. I found it to be a lesser product than my previous shredder, and very unsatisfactory. My wife's observation was that the shredder was "dinky". We returned this model, and selected the Royal 1216X instead, with which we are happy so far.
Great so far. Very quiet.

Quiet. Better than my old fellows that one row of wheels stopped turning. I like that he paper has to be put in from front to back. My old fellows loaded straight down from the top. I had a bill fall off my desk and landed right in the paper loading slot and started up. I was able to grab it bE for it ate it all up. What are the odds of doing that ever again. Won't happen with this new front loader.

Shreds 12 sheets paper and single CDs/DVDs easily, so seems powerful enough. Quieter than 6-sheet shredder it replaces. Seems less prone to jamming as well (-- old one always had lots of tangled shreds hanging from underneath). Rolling casters and pull out drawer/basket proving nicely convenient; odd-shaped basket a little tricky to empty, but still nicer than having to remove main shredder module from top every time to empty.

This shredder was a replacement of an earlier model by this manufacturer. My old one which shred lesser pages than this new one finally failed. It suddenly would not turn off automatically and had to be switched off manually. This new one works great, has several improvements over the old one including slots for credit card and for CD/DVD disks. I love it.

This shredder sits by my desk and is used often. I like the way it turns on when you insert paper, no need for flipping a switch, and nice that it rolls around so you can access the bin to empty it and then roll it back into place. Easily shreds 8-10 pages at a time without bogging down. Shreds two ways so you get the usual long strips, but then they are cut up into 1" lengths. Seems pretty secure for discarding records. I have yet to need the disc shredder, so can't comment on that part.
