Does what it suppose to do
Jack T.July 11, 2017
It does what it suppose to do and it hold my weight about 150lb, without flexing around, but i dont want to push it,, just want to make sure it would hold my child without issue.
here is why i took a star
the nuts and bolts are super soft, hex head stripped with just little force. I have to go hardware store to get some stainless bolts and nuts.
There are many sharp edges, you are not able to touch them after its installed, so handle with caution.
I am happy with it overall.
Universal rack is great for older bikes
Amazon CustomerJanuary 23, 2017
I installed it on my 20 year old steel frame bianchi 'hybrid' and it bolted right up to the brazed lugs. I ordered a front rack from Amazon also that had surplus hardware in the package that completed the installation but I was prepared to use the experience shared in these reviews to complete the installation.
The similar geometry of older bikes seems to be what it was designed for. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it for any of the eight other 26inch bikes including our aluminum framed MTB's or late model hybrid. As a mechanic I understand 'some people can't even fix a samich'. If you are not patient with tools and solving problems don't buy because of the low price then give poor reviews out of frustration with the installation. You will need a set of metric Allen wrenches and an 8mm wrench to assemble the hardware (a bike owner should have). Look at the other reviews and shared photos while waiting for the delivery and pick up the other hardware you might need. Embrace the challenges and don't get bit by the hurry bug.

This rack works pretty well, as long as you don't have disc brakes on your bike. I have a Cannondale F7 and because of the disc brakes, I was unable to mount this thing properly. I moved it to my wife's hybrid bike with standard caliper rim brakes and it works well. I bought a metal basket and strapped it to this thing with some velcro cable management straps, and she puts everything in there. We brought home a grocery bag full of hard cover books from our local library's book sale and this thing had no problem supporting the weight. It's definitely worth its asking price.

One thing to note: I had to procure an extra bolt from the hardware store to attach the extension (the little extra bit in the main picture) to my wife's bike frame. Once I got that longer bolt, it was a breeze to install this and start using it.
All the reviews are true
Castaway ReviewerJuly 25, 2016
There is only one picture for the sellers' description for a reason, what you see is what you get. Plus, you get about 13 nuts with bolts. And yes, there are no instructions, no hex key, crappy screws that the heads strip out and no attachments for the frame. So why the five stars? Because I knew this ahead of time from reading the reviews.

To me this is a well built product. I'm a handy guy and I modified it for my mountain bike. I needed a sturdy product for when I go riding to carry extra water, sweat rags and sometimes a change of clothes.

I timed my installation. The longest part of the install was hunting around Home Depot for the screws required to connect it to my bike and my wife's bike. (Yes, you will need to visit a hardware store to connect it to your bicycle). One of them didn't have the standard required hole, so I used a hose clamp to connect it.

I was put off by some of the reviews that said it was difficult to It was not at all difficult to assemble, but I decided to give it a shot. One reviewer said if you know what an allen wrench is, you shouldn't have any trouble. I do, and I didn't. There were some instructions, but I didn't see them until after I had figured it out and put it together based on the picture.
