so easy to us
Great for our Purpose
Avid Reader•February 4, 2017
Cradles were smaller than the set we bought from our local kayak dealer, but we found this to be a "happy mistake." We load our two kayaks with these upside down to serve as padding away from the bottom of our trailer. Crazy, maybe, but works great for our set up.

The value for me with this kit are the foam pieces, and the one strap with the rubber piece that is supposed to protect your car. I wish it came with two of those straps and not the other ones. The other two straps, with the metal hooks, are of no use to me. These foam boards work so well with the bottom of my hobbie outfiter kayak
They do what they're supposed to do
bwhite757•July 27, 2015
They serve the purpose I needed them for. I use them to secure a kayak to the top of a popup camper. The foam molds to the bottom of my kayak well, and holds them in place. I did not use the included straps because I needed hook style straps, but they look like they would work fine. I took away a star because I've seen them cheaper at some big box sporting goods stores out there. I don't live close to any of them, so I paid the extra for the convenience of not having to drive to get them.
Kayak Kit works on 2008 Hyundai Sante Fe
Jason C. Taylor•June 2, 2015
The Sherpak Quick Universal Kayak Kit fits its name. We have a two person sit on top kayak and we used this kit to carry it on a 2008 Hyundai Sante Fe. It took some trial and error, but we got it to work for the drive home from the store. The factory roof racks on the Sante Fe are somewhat close together and sit towards the back half of the vehicle's roof. The two blocks fit easily on and off of the factory rack beams, but the beams themselves were too close together for a longer kayak. This is not a hit on the Kayak Kit, but on the vehicle itself. With the roof racks so close together and towards the back of the vehicle, we had to position and balance the kayak on the roof such that a good bit of the kayak hung over the back of the Sante Fe. The kayak sat too far back and with the blocks so close together, it was not a very sturdy or safe setup. I ended up taking the forward block off the rack and placing it on the front end of the roof, but left the back block on the roof rack. The blocks were high enough that the kayak easily cleared the front roof rack beam but we now had spaced out the blocks to provide a sturdier base with the kayak positioned directly over the Sante Fe. Much safer and easier on the kayak. After strapping everything down, neither block shifted at all when we were on the road. I did add an extra strap to the rear of the kayak, not completely necessary but good for my peace of mind.
