Omega Slow Speed Masticating Juicer, White (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

Omega Slow Speed Masticating Juicer, White (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

Key features

  • Masticating juice extractor with powerful single-gear commercial motor
  • Dual-stage juicing; low speed of 80 RPMs means no foaming, clogging, or heat build-up
  • High yield with very dry pulp; auto pulp-ejection for continuous operation
  • Easy to assemble, operate, and clean; UL- and cUL-approved; runs quietly
  • Ships in Certified Frustration-Free Packaging
  • VOLTAGE: 110V
  • Low speed, masticating style juicing system
  • Omega's Nutrition Center does more than just juice. You can turn nuts into nut butters (an all-natural peanut butter), make baby food from natural, fresh ingredients, whip up soy milk, extrude pasta, grind coffee and spices, and mince herbs and garlic.
  • Juicer processes at 80rpm's. Low speed or masticating style juicer squeezes, instead of grinding, which allows the juice to maintain its pure color, natural taste, vitamins and nutrients.
  • Powerful gear reduction is equivalent to a 2HP Motor.
  • Includes a GE Ultem Auger which is 8x stronger than most other plastics.
  • Dual stage juicer. First, juice is extracted by crushing the fruit or vegetable. Then, before the pulp is ejected, the pulp is squeezed during the second pressed stage. This results in a higher yield of juice and a very dry pulp.
  • Extracts the maximum amount of nutrients, vitamins, taste and juice from minimum amounts of fruits, vegetables, leafy greens such as spinach and kale, even wheatgrass.
  • The low speed system does not mean a longer time to juice. It means a more efficient juicer. More nutrients and antioxidants, plus better flavored juice and freshness.
  • The low speed system limits froth and foam preventing oxidation.
  • Juice can be stored for up to 72 hours without degradation or the juice separation that occurs with other juicers.

Excellent juicer. Replaced a centrifugal juicer.
Ronald G.✓ Verified PurchaseMarch 8, 2017
Excellent juicer. We replaced a centrifugal juicer purchased just a year before... as it was worn out and wasn't working as well any more. We looked for a better quality juicer that was more efficient and would last. So far, this Omega J8004 has worked VERY well. We use it about 3 times a week on average and juice enough each time to fill 2-3 bottles. The juice is better than what we got from the centrifugal juicer by far... hard to explain but the juice is darker and richer tasting. The pulp is dryer by far with less waste. Lastly, so much easier to clean than the centrifugal juicer. So far, very happy with this product!
GREAT JUICER - FOR 5 WEEKS

GREAT JUICER - FOR 5 WEEKS
I purchased this seemingly top quality Omega J8004 commercial-grade masticating juicer/food processor on 12/29/16 after trying a less expensive juicer, reading many of the informative Amazon reviews, and doing some research and cost comparisons on the internet. I was this careful and thorough because it's a large purchase for my budget and because I needed a machine that would meet all my specifications AND perform well for my years. I was pleased, briefly, with the performance and quality: heavy in weight, sleek design, solid construction, easy to operate and clean... GREAT JUICER - FOR 5 WEEKS. I made sure to read the owners' booklet and watch numerous instructive videos prior to operating so I would use it properly and not damage it.

CONS:
- It takes a LOT more time to juice with this (and all) masticating juicers.
- Does not juice citrus or soft fruits efficiently, so if you want to juice more than a small amount of soft fruit, you'll probably end up buying a separate juicer for that as I did ($30-$50). I needed a power juicer because I have advanced osteoarthritis and juicing for more than 30 minutes is very painful for my hands (all the prep work), back, and knees (standing so long). I tried cutting down on the duration by juicing every day for shorter periods, but the food prep and mess/clean up time, assembling/disassembling/cleaning the machine each day was still too much time and not worth undertaking every day. It takes me a day to recover from the pain, so I can only juice with this machine once every 2-3 days.
- DEAL BREAKER: Just 2 weeks into using the Omega, I noticed a squeaking sound while juicing several different items. The juice was collecting in the barrel and getting clogged behind the auger rather than pouring out the bottom. I alternated hard and soft items, as recommended by the seller, and this solved the problem for a few weeks.
Today: The squeaking is worse, the pulp is increasingly moist, and the clogging occurs frequently with just a couple of slices of fruit. I have to add carrots more frequently just to keep it operating, but I don't want that many carrots in the juice. Each time juice clogs the Omega, I have to turn off the machine, remove and clean all the attachments, and then reassemble it. WORSE: I just noticed the factory coating on the auger and inside the funnel has scraped off (see photos), and the auger teeth are getting damaged. I realized this Omega was useless to me after just 5 weeks of operation and decided to return it.

Per my Amazon order notes, the return window had passed. Oh no, I thought, this cost over $200! I braced myself for the long road ahead: dig out the Omega booklet, find their contact info, long & probably multiple phone calls, hassle, and cost to contact the seller, beg for a refund, pay for return shipping and restocking fee, etc., IF I could get a refund at all. I decided to start with a call to Amazon and hope for some reprieve. Amazon to the rescue!

PROS: AMAZON Customer Service! âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸
THANK YOU, SHAWN!!
First of all, the connection in this phone call was clearer than I'd experienced in the past. Second, Shawn's accent did not impede our conversation. He was easy to understand; very professional, knowledgeable, and courteous; and he went the extra mile to help me - several times! After noting that the return window had closed, he took the initiative to dig for information to help me. He searched several times and discovered there were no phone numbers or email addresses for Omega at all. Again, without my asking, he searched for options to help me while I waited with fingers crossed, hoping I wasn't out $219. The next thing I heard was that, because OMEGA FAILED to provide any contact information or customer support, Amazon would handle the matter for me! He emailed me a return label on the spot, and assured me Amazon would give me a FULL REFUND - which they did. All the while, Shawn spoke calmly and patiently. I'd had good and great experiences with Amazon customer service before, but this was off the charts. I will only continue to purchase expensive items through Amazon because I can trust them to do the right thing. Thank you, Amazon!
Using this juicer everyday!!!

So i have been using this juicer everyday. Interesting that i have noticed that i dont crave my daily coffee when i drink our juice, which is a bonus. This is a cold press juicer and is easy to clean. Everything can just be rinsed off except for a metal screen 1/2 wide and the size of a quarter. 5 second to brush that with the heavy duty brush that is included and you are done. A couple tips that i have found to make this go quicker is to:
1. Sit the juicer next to your sink so you can clean it in one full swoop and you are not carrying drippy parts across your kitchen floor. TRUST ME! ITS BEEN THE BEST MOVE!
2. Put a plastic produce bag in your pulp container to easily remove pulp and its one less thing to clean out.
3. Cut your carrot sticks so that they are thin and spindally -if that is a word?? Likr a long triangle. See my attached video. I can easily feed in carrots and dont even need the plunger. I feed them in one after another, if they are too square and blunt, they just keep bouncing up.
4. Make sure when you turn on your machine....if your engine is on the right and juice is coming out the left hand side...you want to make sure the big grinder is rolling away from you, not towards you.
Loving the color of the juice and love that it is soooo quiet compared to the other high speed ones that sound like a rocket taking off. This juicer just seems more gentle. It has done great with greens and watermelon, pears, green apples. Not so great with nectarines. It comes with a nice strainer, i havent used the pasta attachments yet but will do so. Also does great with beets. im a happy camper, especially since i got it for a great price on amazon day. I have watched a million comparison videos..glad i just have one now and i am very happy with the quality juice it provides. - Please click "YES" if you like this review.
Best juicer for healing juices and pure enjoyment!

***UPDATE: Jan. 13, 2016***
I am really torn about this review. It is such an excellent juicer...***EXCEPT*** I have the same problem as has been stated in "One Star" Reviews. The auger shaft is too small for this juicer. It has a huge amount of play when I am assembling it and then the whole unit wobbles back and forth when I am juicing. I am going to request that the correctly sized auger be sent to replace the one that came with the juicer or I will have no choice but to return it. I depend heavily on using a quality juicer on a daily basis as I work hard to regain my health. In fact, the only "right thing" for the manufacturer to do is to voluntarily send every purchaser of the Omega J8004 a correctly sized (shaft) auger. No one wants to risk ingesting plastic shavings as some people have reported finding in their juice.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: The Omega J8004 Juicer is more than I could have hoped for in ease of use, quick and easy assembly & disassembly for washing the 5 parts. I rinse each part immediately after use and use the included cleaning brush on the mesh screen. This is the type of juicer you want to use when concerned about getting the most nutrition out of the veggies and fruits, as it's slow, masticating method does not destroy the enzymes through heat as do the juicers that spin extremely fast. Some people find that having to chop the veggies and fruits is troublesome, but it takes me just a few minutes to rinse and chop whatever I'm going to juice. Having a couple of good knives to use makes it very easy. Since I use it every day and will be traveling quite a bit in the next few months, I plan to take the juicer with me in my small hard-shell carry-on.
It might be a good product, but the company behind it is not.

After a month of waiting, I finally got it! I'm happy that I'm able to make juices again!! Let's see how long this will last! I went up one star because when I called to complain, the person that answered me was really helpful!
------------------------------------ UPDATE -------------------------------------------------------------

The short version of my review is: I do not recommend buying the Omega J8004 or any other juicers from Omega, it might be cheap now, but it will be expansive in the long run.

Here is the long version for the reason why:

If you are reading this, you are probably searching for a juicer. I was doing the same thing back in June 2015. I looked for a new Juicer for two months. I read every single review, I watched every youtube video, I asked people and I learned a lot. My first decision was to go with a masticating juicer. They are much better than the centrifuge ones. I had three juicers lined up, and I was heavily researching all of them. I chose the Omega Juicer 8004 for reasons:

1 "“ Price was good
2 "“ It was American Made
3 "“ 10 year warranty

When it arrived at my house 2 days later (Thanks Amazon Prime), I was like a kid on Christmas.
I started juicing right away. I learned that you have to mix soft fruits and greens with hard ones. I would mix carrots and apples, beets and kale, orange and cucumber. My favorite juice was carrots, beets, and lemon. If you haven't tried it, try it. It is energetic and it tastes delicious. I learned the hard way that potatoes are nasty to juice. I had a lot of fun. I was actually saving money with my juicer since no vegetable or fruit would go to waste, ever. The juicer was very easy to clean and it yielded a lot of juice.

I had a three month honeymoon with my Omega Juicer. I juiced every single day. I would use carrots as the basis of all my juices. I was feeling great.

On October 21, 2015, the screen of the juicer cracked when I tried to juice an apple. I didn't panic at all, I had warranty, and I was sure it was just a fluke. I emailed the website on October 22, and I did not receive any answer (other than the automated "we've received your inquiry" email). On October 26, my birthday, I missed drinking juice in the morning. I decided to give them a call. Sharon Leaman was the representative who answered my call, a very nice and polite lady. She told me I had to send her a photo of the broken part, and after I had sent her, I was supposed to call her and pay $9.95 for shipping and they'd send the part.

I immediately sent the pictures (The ones that I uploaded) and call her back with my credit card in hand. She asked me how long I had the juicer, and I told her three months. She told me that I didn't have to pay anything since it was so new. I was happy. At that time, I was happy I bought an Omega Juicer. She told me it would take up to 10 business days for the screen to arrive. I was happy for the treatment I received, and I entered countdown mode.

On November 6, nine business day after my call to Omega, I received a one line email from Sharon saying, "your order is at the warehouse for shipping"

I freaked out a little bit. I thought that my screen was arriving, how could it still be on the warehouse?
I emailed them back saying it was OK, even though I had thought that the screen was already shipped, and I asked for a tracking number.
I received no answer.

On November 17, I emailed Sharon again, asking for a tracking number, and saying that it had been 16 business days since the first time she told me it would take 10 business days.
I received no answer.

Today I emailed them back again. In two days, it will be one month since we talked, and I don't have an answer to my email, or my screen.
My final conclusion on the Omega Juicer is that the Juicer is good, the screen is cheap, being American made means nothing to Omega, their products are worse than the Chinese products. They have a 10 year warranty, but a very bad customer service.
If you buy an Omega and something breaks, you can be ready to wait, a long time.

The screen sells for $45 + $9.95 SH on their website, and you can only buy the screen with the drum. You can buy the drum by itself, but not the other way around. (Don't take my word for it, go on their website).

Think twice before buying this juicer, or any other from Omega.
