Love the idea, but kit is lacking
iamtruetome•July 11, 2017
My child is 3-1/2, so I was looking for an activity that she could complete independently while I attended to my baby.
I haven't tried any of the other ALEX projects, but I found this one to be lacking. Each bug project comes with pipe cleaners, popsicle sticks, pom poms and buttons that are supposed to be attached with a glue stick. Unfortunately, the glue isn't strong enough to adhere these materials.
Each project also comes with a sheet of stickers, but my daughter struggled to peel them from the sheet, and instead they just "popped" off with the backing still attached. As a result, I had to sit beside her, peel the stickers, and use either tape or a stapler to attach the components. She didn't get to make the bugs herself because it was too complicated and defeated the purpose.
While she was disappointed, I am going to order another of these ALEX project boxes to see if we have better luck. :)

The only thing I would have liked was a stronger glue

I got this for my two year old who is into crafts and it was a little old for her but could get through it with mom and dad. Worth five stars simply for the packaging. You open the box and it has each of the five crafts in a separate bag with the appropriate materials. The only thing I would have liked was a stronger glue. It includes a stick glue but the materials were a little heavy so it required more assistance from us parents for her to get through the project. Maybe use your own glue and you are set!
Best craft ever!

This is a great craft for my 3 year old grand daughter. She is not easily pleased with craft type activities. She likes this. It has several different choices to do. Everything is included. Each craft idea is individually wrapped.. We've done 3 of the 5 adorable insects. They are detailed and take a good 30 minutes to complete. Easy to do. This is probably the best craft item I've ever purchased. Although I got it for my 3 yr old, it is good for my 7 8.and 12 yr old too. P

This is a fun craft kit for preschoolers -- my toddler was able to do one of the projects with help from me. This kit contains everything you need in theory, but the only adhesive is a glue stick which is no match for some of the heavier pieces, like pipe cleaners, so we used some tape (but you might need school glue as well). The picture directions are easy for preschoolers to follow. The bug projects are cute and cheery. There is not much mess from this one. My four year old loves doing craft projects and is enthusiastic about bugs and this really brightened up a snowy day for him.
Awesome

Ok soooo cute! My daughter is 2.5 and wants to make paper plate bugs every day since we got this. It's a great way to teach her how to use a glue stick and she loves the stickers and tissue. I absolutely recommend this
