Useful tool for learning/translating English or Spanish
Kay E.•April 8, 2015
The keys are smaller than my old one; the whole thing is about the size of a face powder compact which would make it easy to fit in pocket or purse. The only thing I don't like about it is that it always opens to the English-Spanish dictionary and I want the Spanish-English one. You have to go through more steps to get to that than my older model which stayed in the mode you left it when it turned off. I use it mostly to translate unfamiliar words when I am reading in Spanish. My previous model lasted 12 years with hard use, so I expect this one to be durable as well. It is a great tool for the price!
WILL NOT interpert phases that you type in.. It's simply a Dictionary with a few built in phrases..

First.. I have used this for a few months before giving it a rating to make sure I rate it honestly..I keep looking for a way to justify the cost.. It IS NOT a translator.. You can not type in a phrase and get it translated...It will change an english word to a spanish word and visa-versa...Most times it has a verbal pronunciation of a word BUT often it does NOT.The audio is decent but I use mine on a speaker...It is simply a Dictionary.. It has build in Phases but you cant change them..They are just there and you can learn them but many books do that.. I am not sure that I like this unit.. It helps me on my studies but I don't see how the cost was justified...Do not think you can type in a question for someone and get an answer.. You can type only 1 word at a time..

I have now had mine for months. I can probably claim to have the cleanest electronic device, as mine went through the washer and drier and still works flawlessly. (I don't recommend such extreme measures to clean the thing--I actually forgot it in my pants pocket and later found it in the drier with the battery cover and batteries separated from the device.)
A tough little gadget, with a wealth of information for vocabulary building and learning Spanish. The more one uses it, the quicker the two AAA batteries have to be replaced, but on a whole it doesn't drain batteries excessively. Yes, I would recommend this reference device.

A very usefull tool

I got one of these over a year ago and found it to be very useful in learning Spanish. You must be very serious about learning a language though. This tool does NOT "translate", (it is a dictionary) if you haven't used it for a few hours it takes awhile to turn on, (a little frustrating when in a conversation). But it DOES have a lot of words, (only the Larousse Gran Dicionario has more and is HUGE) fits in your pocket, has an English dictionary which I have found to be very usefull, (I just wish it had a Spanish dictionary yet too) it has verb conjugations which also is very helpful but I often wish it was easier to scroll to the end, (it takes awhile to get to the command forms)... It is a very usefull, and has been riding around in my pocket for more than a year, very well worn and still works, could be better, but not half bad!
Don't Buy This Product

This product seems to be a clear example of technology/programming gone amok ! Turning it on is one of the few things that is easy. There are pages and pages of instructions for use. All I want is to have a simple instruction set on how to use it ! It does not allow for an English Phrase to be entered, then translated. Also, I needed to have a Spanish phrase translated and couldn't get there from here. Using a textbook is way faster and a lot less expensive and less frustrating. My daughter is a wiz with technology and she was terribly frustrated as well as I went to her for help.
I do not have the expertise to compare this with another product. This was my first try out and I received an alert stating that it had gone down in price. I took the chance to purchase it.
