not for 2" sq tubing X 1/8" wall???
Andrew Anderson✓ Verified PurchaseOctober 12, 2017
I bought this specifically for a project to cut 2" sq tubing X 1/8" thick wall (mild steel). I have tried everything recommended in the manual and then some and have not had any luck. The blade that it came with I knew was junk for cutting steel due to reading other reviews so I ordered the steel blade first and it lasted about 2 dozen cuts. Then I upgraded to the stainless blade in hopes that it would get me threw the project. After 150 dollars in blades I gave up on it and went back to an angle grinder with a cutting wheel. Unfortunately it sat in the box for a few weeks before I got around to using it so my 30 days is up and I'm stuck with it. If anyone has successfully cut 2" sq. x 1/8" wall with success please let me know. If there is anyway I can still return with full or partial refund that would be ideal for me.
) I like the slow-start feature of the motor

For the DYI projects I do, this is an incredible piece of equipment. I finally am able to make miter cuts. My 1968 Montgomery Wards PowerKraft miter box has been laid to rest :)

I like the slow-start feature of the motor. I'm 69 and have that same feature myself.

From what I am learning, the dust management system on many saws does a poor job, this saw is no exception. Other than that, it's probably overkill for my needs.
as expected, good results.

My first impression after cutting a few materials (plastic, alum, steel)

plastic, no problems

alum, also no problems, however the cut with the stock blade isn't as appealing as other cuts... however I would give it a 8.5/10

steel, there is some minor tear out. I was going at a fast feed rate, and had some minor tear out... I could have gone slower, however the end result was more than satisfactory for welding purposes... far superior to any fiber cut.

I am going to buy the recommended metal blade and see how this goes. I felt the low teeth count might be contributing towards the tear out. all in all, for 200.00 ish shipped, it's a great deal.
Nice, solid fit and finish—well-made—good, tight adjustments

I really like this saw. I regularly use Hitachi, but I was happy to find this as an option for cutting metal and various materials. It's accurate, has a nice, solid fit and finish"”well-made"”good, tight adjustments. One thing I'm a little unsure about is the laser indicator, but I didn't even expect this saw to include that, so I could care less. Good power with a soft start. Good saw. Happy I got it. Just don't expect these blades to last if you are cranking through a lot of metal...not much carbide on the teeth, but somehow seemed sufficient for the price (blade).

Finally I can cut steel like a regular person. It is so nice to just grab the Evolution Saw and a straight edge and rough out steel or aluminum way faster than using a grinder or jig saw this thing eats steel for lunch. Much better performance than I expected so that is never a bad thing.

I just have a small hobby shop so this unit will out last me as it won't get heavy use.

A great buy, I recommend it.
