We have always been a fan of Marcal products but our local stores no longer sell it, not sure why. The two cases we've bought via Amazon have both had misaligned layers -- in other words, the perforations of the top layer are not in the same place as the second layer, so the sheets do not tear cleanly and the edge is always ragged. Otherwise, it does the job.

I have always liked Marcal's Small Steps "bath tissue," but when I tried to order it again, I couldn't find it--or perhaps it was more expensive than I remembered? In any case, I thought this 48-roll package would be similar, if not the same. I was WRONG. This paper is thin and scratchy, and the "two ply" sheets often will not stick together. The rolls are difficult to open, and involve tearing away several sheets and reconstructing which one belongs on top. The last several sheets appear suddenly, all folded accordion-style and unattached to the inside tube. Very wasteful... very uncomfortable... After checking the package, I see that the Marcal logo is only on the front-- the company has apparently been bought out by Soundview Paper Company LLC. I will not order this package, or maybe even this brand, again. And that would be sad, because I really did like the old Marcal Small Steps.

This is the second box/case I purchased through Amazon. The first one was fine however this box is horrible. Every roll is a new adventure! Some rolls are quilted, some are not. Many rolls have no lines for tearing just one continuous roll. Had many single ply rolls or rolls that the second ply was misaligned to the tear line. Second ply has fold overs or stray pieces. I feel like I bought a box of rejected rolls. Actually I know I paid for a box of rejected rolls. This is clear that it isn't a single issue reading the other reviews shame on Marcella and Amazon for allowing it to continue.

I have been buying Marcal for quite some time and have been happy with the product but, this is by far the worst paper I have used. It does not tear properly, one of the plies is folded over making it impossible to tear, shreds instead. Every roll is this way. I will not purchase this again and will not recommend.

(See updated comment below). These are really big rolls, so they last well, and the tissue is comparable to the other recycled Marcal tissue I've purchased before. They make a really big deal out of the "convenient roll-out box," but don't plan on using the roll out function. Every time I've received this the box has been so beat up and taped up, I can't even tell where the roll out part is supposed to be. Otherwise, great product & value.

EDITED: What happened to this product? The rolls are terrible -- the plys separate, and the perforations don't line up between the 2 plys, so they're constantly separating. We even got a few rolls that weren't perforated at all. That was fun. In addition AMAZON has been handling/storing this product very badly -- the boxes are always totally beat up, and the last two times I had to throw away quite a few rolls because they were moldy. So sad, because this was a great deal, but now I'm shopping for a replacement.
