Good quality, beautiful lamp...works well as a night light. Kids love them.

I bought FOUR of these in January 2014. I leave them on more than off, but I have gone days or even weeks (at times) with it turned off. I turn the dimmer down and sometime during the night it shuts off. Then I forget to turn it back on. I've never had any other problems with them.
I have replaced the bulb in one of them and I did not have any problems after replacing the bulb. Some people say they replaced their bulb with LED bulbs... I could be mistaken, but I'm thinking that part of what makes the salt work is the heat from the incandescent light bulb (which get hot). LED lights are cool to the touch (at least in my experience).
They are beautiful. They seem to help me. Dr. Axe has good articles on pink Himalayan Salt Lamps and all the benefits that you can expect to get from true pink Himalayan Salt.
I understand that if they are left on, they are self-cleaning for the most part. Light dusting will help IF they haven't been used for some time, otherwise they don't usually get dusty.

I am not sure if they really purify the air as claimed (probably not; I still have to clean regularly due to dust and cat hair) but I love the ambient light these lamps provide. Also, I have had mine for about a year and half now; replaced the bulb once on it and I run them 24/7. Seriously, I never turn them off and they keep going and going.

I love my lamp. I received it as a gift from my younger daughter, and the adjustable light is perfect. I use it as a nightlight, but it has the added benefit of being aesthetically being very pleasing to look at too. I want to get another one for my living room, and I'll be looking into smaller ones for each of my bathrooms. Fantastic product.
FIRE DANGER! Melted Switch-- Recalled?

I bought this a year ago. As with all salt lamps, it needs to be on for most of the day, every day, to keep the salt dry. It stopped working a few weeks ago, after excavating the bulb it was burnt out, but new bulbs didn't work... so I checked the outlet and the lamp over for something else that could be malfunctioning.
Then I noticed a depression on the back of the switch-- like it had melted. So I unscrewed the back and viola: burnt up circuits.
I can only say that I (and my neighbors in the building) are extremely fortunate that it didn't start a fire. And horrified that 1. other customers are reporting that the company is not accepting returns 2. that Amazon is still allowing the seller to sell this item.

Looks beautiful but question the quality

Overall I am pleased with the purchase. It is bright when it's set at max, the stones are mixed small-large pieces, and the metal enclosure is nice and stable. Only concern is the overall build quality.
