Started to deform after 1 use
JC•August 16, 2018
I purchased these after looking at other designs. Although a few others had some bad experiences with these, I thought I'd try them first hand.
First, the things I liked:
I really liked the magnetic strip. After trimming a few inches off one end so they would fit well with my stove, they clicked into place with ease. The magnetic strip provides just the right amount of "grip" so they stay in place.
They look good and have a sleek design. They are not too big, and they don't stand out too much. Fit was very good. They covered the gap nicely. I thought "I'm glad I chose these. They look great, fit great, and they fixed the gap issue" Price was also extremely fair at under $25.
This was until we used the stove top for the first time.
Things I did NOT like.: After one use, the right side gap guard started to deform. We used the front right burner to boil water in a large pot. Granted, this burner is a 20, 000 BTU dual power burner, and we had it up high to get the water boiling quickly. After we were done, I noticed a gap between the stove and gap guard. When I inspected further, I realized that the heat made the gap guard deform on this side. When it deformed, it created a gap large enough for food and crumbs to fall through. This is exactly what these are supposed to prevent. Obviously the material they are made of is not designed for the heat of a stove. This is only after ONE use. I'm sure the deformation would have gotten progressively worse with further use. This is not acceptable at all. The glue holding the magnetic strip to the guard was also softening and the magnetic strip was starting to pull away.
Another thing I must mention is that these were shipped in a fairly thin cardboard tube. The tube was only taped at the ends with a single piece of shipping tape. The tape had ripped off one side in transit and the gap guards inside could have easily slipped completely out of the tube. Luckily, both were inside. Packaging could have been much better.
Conclusion:
I was able to return these for a refund and purchase an all stainless pair that will stand up to the heat.
These need to be made from a material that has enough heat resistance to not deform. After all, these are supposed to work on a stove top, right next to the burners. Perhaps the people that do not have any problems with these do not have a stove with as much heating capacity. These might work for some, but will definitely not work for all.
Packaging needs to be done more carefully also. Maybe 2-3 layers of tape on the ends instead of just one single layer. Mine could have easily been lost.
Hope this helps you to make a more informed decision.

Perfect magnetic Entenders

I couldn't have selected better. I have a black stove and ivory counter-tops so I worried about color but black was the way to go. Stove sits taller than counter so thin with magnetic sides was perfect. Love love love them!!!
I ordered the second set because I found out the hard way while canning that it's not a good idea to spill syrupy liquids

I have bought two sets of these protectors now. I ordered the second set because I found out the hard way while canning that it's not a good idea to spill syrupy liquids. I didn't notice it and the sugars dried and literally glued the magnetic strip to my stovetop. It took a little work, but eventually I had to break/cut out a section of the magnet to get it off the edge of the stovetop. No harm done though, no damage to the stove and now I just use the strip with the gap on the opposite side so that it's closest to the back side of the stovetop where there is no real danger of a spill. They definitely do what they're advertised to do - no spills down the side of the stove so that I have to pull the whole thing out to get it cleaned. Now I only have to do a quick wipe down when the stove is getting it's warranty check-up and the technician has it pulled out for me!
Does the trick

Item looks to be made of quality heat resistant plastic. The shape of this item is an L so the idea is that one side will magnetically stick to your range while the other covers the gap. The magnetic strip is already applied so installation is a breeze. So far this item has been holding up well, but time will tell how heat resistant this plastic really is. As of now I would certainly recommend this item to anyone.
Finally an end to disappearing crumbs!!

After years of having crumbs and rice and other stuff fall into the crack between the cooktop and counter, I found this product on Amazon! I went with black to match my electric cooktop, and they blend in so well my husband didn't even notice them for about a month (and yes, he uses the stove). The have a strong magnet and stay in place and are easy to clean. No issues with heat bothering them. Wish I found these years ago!!
