Works for the trimmer
J. Hennessy✓ Verified PurchaseSeptember 8, 2023
Use the black & decker grasshog trimmer. After a couple years of trimming (I have about 1 acre), the batteries started dying after about 10-15 minutes. Got 2 of these batteries, along with the dual charger, so now I have 4 batteries and a dual and single charger. The new batteries last for almost the whole yard (probably 45 minutes), but with the dual charger, I always have the back up ready. Good replacement battery for B&D tools.
Hopefully Longer Lasting

I ordered a pair of these Black & Decker batteries to replace a couple that quit taking full charges after two years of average usage. Not impressive. I use these with my Black & Decker trimmer/edger. I liked the idea that these have "no memory" because I think that is why my first two batteries failed so quickly. You have to be extremely careful how you charge batteries with memory. Supposedly these newer Black & Decker "no memory" batteries are guaranteed to be good for 500 charges. We will see. I also ordered the Black & Decker FSMVC 18-Volt Battery Charger at the same time because I wanted something that would charge faster than the cheap trickle charger that came with my trimmer (see link below). It would take 6-9 hours to charge a battery with the trickle charger, while the new charger fully charged one of these new batteries within three hours. I would have given these batteries five stars, but I am a little dubious about the longevity of Black & Decker 18V batteries.

It is amazing how one becomes accustomed, over time, to less that great performance when one has nothing to compare it to. Two of my six (several years old) old batteries finally gave up the ghost and would not recharge. I use them on a cordless drill, pole-extension type chain saw and pole-extension type trimmer. I finally decided to start replacing them while the design was still available remembering the demise of the B&D Versa-Pack batteries. My batteries arrived very quickly. I had either never experienced or had totally forgotten what my equipment could do on new batteries. The model number was different but they were the batteries used by my tools. It took only one battery to do the job normally requiring two to three of the older ones and I still had the power and torque on my tools to continue on to the next project. They must've upgraded the cells in these new packs.

Were my old batteries ever this good? I just don't remember and don't think so, but I am, none the less, a very happy customer with these new ones.
Only 1 Fault

I have two of these batteries that are now two years old and used daily in my Block and Decker electronic hard surface broom (blower). The batteries are powerful and one battery will run the broom at high speed for approximately 1/2 hour, then taper off slowly for another twenty minutes of sweeping before requiring a charge. The only fault I have encounterd is the plastic orange slide release button on the back of the battery. This button snaps into place when the battery is inserted. On one of my batteries the top of the slide cracked making it impossible to remove from the blower ... short of taking the blower apart which I did. I tried to repair it using super glue, but because the slide requries a certain amount of force to snap the into the locked position, the fix wouldn't hold. Block and Decker should seriously consider using stronger material for the slide release button.
Great buy, lowest price anywhere

This battery works as it was designed and Amazon seemed to have the absolute lowest delivered price. You're probably buying this as a replacement as I did. I went with it since all my power tools are still in great shape; however I would never purchase ni-cad power tools again now that Lithium Ion is available, it's simply a huge waste. These don't last long just by their nature, they are now old technology. So my bottom line: If you have to buy this particular battery, buy it HERE, it's the best price. But if you're considering buying a whole new set, go with a Lithiom Ion set like Ryobi (the battery is green), don't waste your money on these ni-cad unless you have to..kind of like I did.
