Great kit. My 11 year old used this for ...

Great kit. My 11 year old used this for band at school. Lightweight enough for him to carry everyday. Not the most expensive you can buy, but it works for beginners and should last quite awhile. My son said he had the best one out of everyone.

Great kit for band students!

Very pleased with this percussion kit! My 5th grader just began band this year and needed her own xylophone. This kit was well priced compared with those we found in local music stores. The xylophone keys are etched with the notes which is a nice touch. The mallets are much nicer than we expected, well-finished with a decent heft in the hand. She will not be using the included snare drum, but the drum itself is not flimsy or cheap at all, it has a nice weight and sound and affixes to the xylophone stand easily. The entire kit was easy to assemble and more importantly, easy for my daughter to set up and break down quickly. The xylophone stand is surprisingly sturdy and the unit lays right on top using a single screw which can be tightened or released easily. It also has a stand for sheet music/books which isn't as solid as the base but works fine. She won'2 be using that part anyway but it would certainly work for someone in a marching band. The included carrying case is nice and sturdy as well! It functions as both a backpack and has a handle for carrying, very important for a kid heading to school with other books etc. It isn't prohibitively heavy. We added her name using a silver sharpie to the outside and it looks perfect. Overall I couldn't be more pleased with our choice. She got the xylophone, mallets, and stand she needed without breaking the bank! Excellent value for money. Highly recommend for beginning band members.

perfect for our needs

Bought for school band, perfect for our needs. The set was exactly what the local suppliers were renting by the month for a lot more money. For 4 months rental, we own it. Great quality, good case and nice sound tone. The only thing that would be nice is if the case had wheels, but it's not too heavy and we would recommend it.
