for my Intex 20x4 pool... Downside to the skimmer is the debris collection basket.. It needs to be deeper to stop the basket from float up and turning sideways when the pump turns off.. (I'm glad I found it right aways) when the pump turns back on the basket turns sideways and the door doesn't open all the way for the water to come in fast enough and the pump ends up sucking to much air into the pump and stops the water flow. (my temporary fix was to put a small but heavy rock in the basket along the side away from the inlet hole to stop it from floating up and burning out the pump from not getting enough water) the jet and gaskets are way to small for the Intex holes. I got it to work by adding the old Intex gaskets with the new gaskets but to be honest I will most likely remove the jet next year. I did see that some people just cut a new hole for the smaller sized jet. UPSIDE the skimmer itself is way better than Intex's skimmer by far.. The vacuum attachment seals right down when the pump is running and works awesome with no problems it's the best the water has looked in the nine yrs. of owning this pool. All in all I'm happy with the skimmer

22' by 52" Intex with a Hayward 1hp above/inground pool pump and a 100lb sand filter. I really love our setup but I was still finding myself having to vacuum the pool more often with the Intex floating skimmer. I did ALOT of research on the Hayward thru-wall skimmer before deciding to order it considering I would have to cut the liner of my pool to install it. Once my Hayward thru-wall skimmer arrived I opened The packaging and inspected the product for defects and found none. Honestly I have to admit I was slightly nervous about making any hole in our pool, but I followed the directions step by step and had the skimmer installed within 30 minutes of opening the package. It actually was super easy to do.
The important part...does it work? The answer is YES! I'm very impressed with the Hayward thru-wall skimmer. I installed it in May and I have only needed to vacuum the pool 4 times since. The skimmer works great, I haven't had a single leak. And since the skimmer and my pump both have debris baskets, very little debris actually makes it to the sand filter so I'm not having to backwash as often. Our pool stays clean and clear which I love! I'm OCD about keeping our pool clean but with this skimmer I get to enjoy our pool more with less time spent maintaining it. Great product!

THIS DEVICE IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I'm not kidding. I have an Intex Ultra 16' x 48" pool with a Intex sand filter.

I used to have to skim the pool daily, sometimes twice a day. I don't even have trees or anything around to make it dirty quick. 2 adults and a teenager use it. I'd have to vacuum twice a week. Now I don't need to manually skim pool and I only vacuum once a week, and there's hardly anything to vacuum up. Almost all debris that goes in the pool will float for many, many hours before it sinks to the bottom, so this in wall skimmer catches everything before then. If you run the filter at the right time of day (such as after the peak insect activity time), the pool will always look like you just filed it with fresh water.

Installation may seem scary at first, just take your time. Use a sharpie to mark the cut for the opening and the holes where the screws go through. I used a drill to pre-drill the holes so the screws went through much easier.

Pro's : It works well once installed.

Con's: 1:Terrible instructions. For the price of item I assume the manufacturer cannot afford good English translators to produce proper instructions
2: It does not fit standard filter connections so you will have to spend additional money to buy connectors. For someone who is not handy it will be difficult to install. It took me approximate two hours( including the trip to Home Depot) to install it.

We had an inside the pool skimmer, which was awful, too many problems to list. We bought this and installed on a Coleman above ground pool. We installed it in about an hour. We did have a hard time with getting the screws to line up but we got it done. We punched out the screw holes with a leather punch, best idea ever. Before we had the idea to use the leather punch, we were using a exacto knife (however you spell that). Gotta be careful of the exacto knife, it'll cut a bigger hole than you want, and it did, so we have a little gorilla tape over that spot and re-punched the hole, almost good as new.
I have to say, I love this skimmer. Love it! It's pushing water and sucking all the crap into the skimmer, my pump is no longer sucking air and I am sold. I will use this brand again should I ever need to.
