Day 1: Blows Ground Fault Circuit Interrupt. I could replace the GFCI, since GFCIs get picky as they age, but I found another heater that works fine on that circuit == it's the TPI product at fault.
NOT UL Listed - check the tipover switch

This space heater is not UL Listed. Amazon has inappropriately used the UL Mark on the website. The manufacturer of the 188T-ASA space heater, TPI Corporation, does not claim UL approval. The 188T that I own has an internal plastic bracket that can melt. This bracket is the tip-over protection circuit. When the bracket breaks, the safety switch is stuck in the "on" position. If you own one of these 188TASA heaters, test the tip-over protection by laying the heater down (It must stop heating or it fails the safety test). If you hear a loose part inside the heater, this is probably the melted safety switch.
If you download the owners manual from a retailer's website, verify the document is for the 188T heater. The 188T is a rectangular box and is not UL Listed. TPI also manufacturers a round heater that is UL Listed, and sometimes the retailer will publish the wrong owners manual.

The easiest review I ever wrote

It has thankfully been some time since I bought such a useless product. I plugged it in and turned it "on" and the 'caution' light leaped to life, but the 'power' light stayed dark. The heat remained off and the fan did not move. This seemed mysterious. When I leaned it over the power light also came on. Since turning it on when upright, triggers the caution light and tipping it over turns on the power light, the power and safety circuits, at least, are cross wired and functionally reversed making the unit a doorstop. When a machine arrives in good physical condition and is completely inoperable, it was a faulty assembly that wasn't caught on the floor nor by quality control testing, revealing lack of a closely supervised process. This company has lost me. I'm sending the unit home, adding TPI to the avoid list.

I've owned a few different small heaters and this one is terrific.
Great little work horse.

This is my second Milk House Heater. The old one lasted 10 years, then stop working on low (1300 watts). It still works on (1500 watts) but I just use it on low. Great heater, not to noisy, and takes the chill out of the room. I highly recommend it.
