Would have liked more information on alternate installations but product is fine.
It looks fine, however no bounce at all

It looks fine, however no bounce at all. Blends well with my light colored travertine deck. Compared to the old diving board that was removed, the base does not seem as sturdy. Only time will tell.
A Dive worth taking!

A quality product, packaged well with good instructions.
Great board for running off of

Great board for running off of, not really a diving board to jump and and down on to get high air on, but perfect for just pushing off.
Go for it and relive your childhood

I ordered the product from In The Swim through Amazon. The diving board arrived very quickly.
We just had an in ground pool installed and the concrete was on its way. The pool company said they would provide a jig for a diving board and I was not sure it would fit. I called SR Smith and they quickly sent me to tech support. They said their jig was 6.5 in width and 14 inches long. The pool company arrived with a jig of the exact dimensions so I had them install it. I also talked to SR Smith about the different options for boards and the made a recommendation based on what we were doing. They didn't recommend the most expensive one, they recommended the RIGHT one. Score one for SR Smith because of customer service.
I asked the price of the board through the pool company and it was eleven hundred dollars more than from in the swim. I promptly ordered it on Amazon from In The Swim.
The boxes arrived super fast. So fast that I didn't want to install it for a few more days so the concrete would reach a good cure. The instructions were very clear and included torque specs and the recommendation to use anti-seize on the bolts. This is an extra good idea since we have a salt water pool. The fiberglass base fit right on the jig the pool company installed It took me all of about 10 minutes to unpack it, read the instruction, find the torque wrench (yes you need one) and install it. The next step was the board. I unpacked it and again used the torque wrench to tighten it to specs. It felt a little uncomfortable as I don't think it needed the recommended foot pounds but I put it in the middle of the range.
A few things to note. The base is hollow and there is space between the board and the base where bees could make nests. We have a problem with bees around us so I worry about that. Also, I am sure water will get in the base. I am not sure if it will drain out of the 3 holes the bolt go through.
The first time I jumped on the board it creaked and cracked but since it is new, that is to be expected. A 230 pound guy jumping on it expects that kind of stuff. Its rated for 250#. It had good spring and a nice feel. It didn't feel like it was going to snap. We will see how it holds up over the summer.
This board will primarily be used by children for jumping into the pool with the occasional adult trying to relive his or her childhood. It should be fine in the long run.
The other thing I like is the board can be changed for stiffer boards if I don't like this. Not that I would change it every day, but if I wanted a stiffer board, I know I could buy one and two bolts later, I could have a different feel.
People have commented about how abrasive the board is. That is totally true. it will take skin off you knee fairly easily. It will also keep you from breaking your back or neck by slipping off the end. If the board came and did not have abrasive on it, or if it felt less abrasive, I would have thought it was a defect. You want it to grip because by nature, these things get wet.
Would I recommend. Of course. Go for it. Great product and great customer service.
