Floats great, fishes great
Tim Baker•February 12, 2017
I also own this boat, as far as the leakage between the hull and inner shell goes....here's the fix: Using a pair of channel locks, remove the ring on the inside piece where the rear drain plug pops in at, after you have this plastic nut removed, pull the entire plug out from the outside of the boat. Cut a piece of rubber from an old inner tube (I used a bike tire tube), fabricate yourself a gasket, put it onto the plug (facing the boat hull), re-insert it through the hull and replace the plastic nut with the channel locks. This 100% fixed my leak. Also underneath the livewell, you'll find a similar plastic bolt, if this leaks, do the same...cut a rubber gasket. I gave only 4 stars because the bottom walking surface is slick - I had to spend 40 bucks on some non-skid strips from front to rear. Floats great, fishes great, very stable, would recommend.
Great for fishing! Stable and easy.

I love this boat. I only took one star off as the back transom should be stronger. I put on a motor holder so I don't have to keep taking it on and off. Other than that this boat is awesome. 40 pound Trolling motor on front, 6hp mercury on back, put my battery in, have two oars on, also I put on a small bimini top keep the sun off. We put on the back of track and have our camper on the back. At home if not camping I have a small trailer to make it easier. I can seat on it all day. Would bring seat padding along for back and seat. Easy to stand. I am 220, my buddy is 260. We took it out all day with motor, battery, fishing tackle etc. Slow with the 6hp but gets you around to fish and uses almost no gas. Great for trolling with either motor or trolling! Waves didn't move us much. if you have the front of the boat heavy and a bigger wave hits you can get wait. I also installed a small pump with a hose out. Was at norris lake all weekend. It rained, the pump got rid of most of the water, and fished all weekend at Norris. NICE! Going to keep this one for a long time as I put it in the garage on the trailer and have the motorcyle behind it - just enough room for both.
VERY DISAPPOINTED!!

VERY DISAPPOINTED!!
7-26-2016 Sun Dolphin are having their boats weight capacity reduced by order of US Coast Guard. Sun Dolphin is not happy and they are passing their frustration right on down to their customers.
First; The good.
The boat has a good concept, you can swivel 360 degrees in a nice seat. It is easy to maneuver in the water and fits in an 8 foot pickup bed.
Next; The bad.
The boat tips to the side when the battery is placed in the assigned position. Rod holders are too close to the side of the boat resulting in the rods keep popping out. The floor is not very solid thus unstable and easy for one to lose balance whenever standing and moving in the boat. We received this boat with several places where a very sticky glue had run down the sides of the boat and it is very hard to get off. Called Sun Dolphin, said they have special solvent to get glue off and will send some to me. Two years later, still waiting.
Now; The ugly.
Even with all three drain plugs securely tightened, this boat takes on water in between the two hulls. After an all day outing on the water, fishing with my wife, I could hardly pull the boat up onto the boat ramp far enough to get to the hull plug located at the rear of boat due to the weight of the water between the hulls. Another very frustrating thing for me is when I unscrew the hull plug, the water drains rather slowly due to large chunks of white styrofoam floating in between the hulls that get trapped over the drain outlet. This is very embarrassing, especially when we go to lakes that have designated checkers at the boat ramps that won't let you leave until all water is drained and all plugs removed before transporting boat. This now has to be done in several states due to the new aquatic invasive species law. Removing three plugs from this ten foot boat is a pain in the *****. In my state, if you don't remove all plugs, there is a $600 fine for first offense. One plug located in the middle of boat, actually protrudes 5/8 of an inch past the very bottom of the boat, thus making it susceptible to damage from rocks, logs and cement boat ramps. I think this poor design is why the boat leaks. This plug shows excessive wear from dragging resulting in half the plug to be worn away in 2 years time.
Received letter from Sun Dolphin 7-2016 saying this boat did not pass stability test done by US Coast Guard and is reducing the capacity weight by 25 pounds. With the letter also was a new capacity tag to apply over the old one. Old capacity tag has 469 pounds and the new one has 435 pounds. That is 34 pounds less NOT 25 pounds! Quite a difference with a 10 foot boat. That is not enough for two average sized people and gear. They also discuss repair options, including rebuilding your boat. Also any corrections made to your boat, will be at no cost to you. Called customer service. Cody said "Just put new sticker over old capacity tag" and would not discuss any other options at all. I demanded to talk to their supervisor, got Becky. She also would not discuss any repair options. She told me to just apply the sticker. I informed her that it would devalue the boat and prefer the repair options. She did not want to deal with me and told me to call where I purchased the boat. So I did and got a nice lady at Rural King. She informed me that they know nothing about Sun Dolphin boats being de-rated and that this is their issue not Rural King as they have a 30 day guarantee NOT 2 years. Called Becky back at Sun Dolphin. Got nowhere. She also offered no compensation for the lessened weight capacity rating. I am trying to send this boat back as I AM TIRED OF THIS COMPANY'S LIES AND DECEPTION.
If you want a boat with three drain plugs, one that takes on water, that's built by a company with poor integrity and bad customer service I highly recommend this boat.

Be Aware...
Whiteaker Realty•May 6, 2016
First let me say that I love the boat and it's concept. I have used a 10.2 for at least the past 15 years and it has been put through most anything you might expect from a hardcore fisherman. It has been used on small lakes and rivers quite extensively and performed as well as could be expected given the size, weight and type of boat that it is. One person alone will naturally cause whatever end of the boat they are sitting in to sink lower in the water. If you're in front, the rear end is higher which complicates maneuverability, while sitting in the rear of course eliminates/complicates the use of a bow mounted trolling motor. (This is NOT a reason to not purchase the boat as the limitations are logical and do not prevent reasonably comfortable fishing). The material itself has held up extremely well with regard to scratches, gouges or holes. Naturally over this amount of time things have worn out and had to be repaired or replaced and I have no issues with any of those things. However, there are a few details you should be aware of.
The most critical is that if you store the battery in the compartment for extended periods of time, it will cause the hull to "distend" or "bow" out of shape. In my boat the battery compartment is on the side of the boat. Over time it has caused that side of the boat to "distend" and bend/bow outward. It causes the boat to be more difficult to control and be less stable overall. I have been in contact with the company to see if they have any suggestions on a remedy, but so far nothing has been suggested that will make any difference. I wouldn't have thought that you couldn't store the battery in the battery compartment... just didn't occur to me that it would cause the boat to sag and distend, after all, it's a battery compartment and there was no mention anywhere that this could occur.
Two other issues you should be aware of;
1) the drain plug is not at the lowest point in the boat, thus you will never be able to fully drain the water that may get in from this spot. It's about an inch or so above the floor, thus you'll have to soak up any excess to fully eliminate water.
2) there is no convenient way to expel water that may get in the "hull" area of the boat. There is a small rubber plug at the top of the exterior center of the front of the boat (about ½ inch in size) that will work, EXCEPT you have to stand the boat straight up on its bow for any water to drain out of the hull. Not easy and not convenient.
This is not an inexpensive boat. When I purchased the one I have it was $800, and has now ballooned to $1,700 to well over $2k which includes nothing but the boat. I would expect a battery compartment to hold a battery without causing the boat to become distended or sag as a result. I would at least expect them to warn the buyer against storing the battery in the "battery compartment".

WARNING: CUSTOMER SERVICE AT SUNDOLPHIN SUCKS
Wayneright Brewing•April 17, 2016
Boat started falling apart soon after receiving. Wires for live well and stern light came unplugged and are not retrievable without taking half the boat apart. Snaps that hold down down seats both broke.
The boat is not bad but customer services at KL industries suck. Have gone through 60 emails trying to get wiring fixed. they sent wrong wiring, said would send instructions then said no, said send boat back at my expense then said they would pay for it. Said have marina fix wiring then said no third party service.
Advertised the boat with built in cooler, covered battery compartment and 15 HP motor capacity. Got boat and had none of the advertised features.
They shipped my boat to the wrong address and then wanted to charge me extra to ship to my house.
They will work with you for two e-mails then pass you on to someone else hoping you will go away.
