High detailed. Large model that feels substantial in your hands.

Highly detailed. Physically quite large for this price point and it feels substantial. I am in the process of repainting it May 1941 colors but even the initial paint job looked fairly sharp. The super structure can be removed for easy painting. My primer covered the original paint without issue including the numbering. I did remove the missile launchers. I have not had it in the water yet and the propellers are not to scale so I may sand them down to slow it down.
you're going to be disappointed. That said

If you buy this item expecting a high end RC ship, you're going to be disappointed. That said, for the cost, I think it is a fine little boat. I bought it for my nephew and was sure to test it out before hand- for testing purposes.. definitely not because I wanted to play with it. Anyway, it floats just fine. Actually scoots along pretty quickly; Much faster than I expected. Sure the guns are thin cheap plastic, but for $40 what do you expect? All in all, I would say it's a decent purchase for the money. Plus the fact that it's the Bismarck is really awesome.
This model/RC toy has a great many neat details

This model/RC toy has a great many neat details. The rocket launchers amidships are a little odd, but the rest makes a fairly authentic replica as a model. In the water the boat performed very well. It was extremely speedy and despite some of the reviews indicating that it did not maneuver well, I found it turned fine when you reversed one motor while forward on the other. There is only one speed, FAST, so don't expect to be able to cruise up to other floating items, but my son really enjoyed driving the boat and loves to play with it indoors as a model as well.
Great boat especially for the money

Great boat especially for the money. I bought one for my son and it was a hit for the 4-12 year olds in my family. The front broke the first time we used it, because naturally they rammed it into the side of the pool. It still runs, as the batteries and electric are well protected. I would definitely advise supervision if your child(ren) are of the destructive variety like the ones in my family are.
Amazing for the price!

This R/C Bismarck is really an amazing value at ~$40. It has performed well through several outings with a 10-year-old as the main driver. The two propellers are independently controlled, and when both are driven forward this thing is FAST! The battery lasts at least 15 minutes in constant usage, and that is enough to have some good fun.
The main reason it didn't get 5 stars is because nowhere in the product description did it mention that the controller operates at 40 MHz. The 31" RC HT-2879 Destroyer War Ship from the same manufacturer also operates at 40 MHz, and the signals interfere with each other. So if you want to have "battles" between the destroyer and the Bismarck, sorry - you can't. The product descriptions ought to make that clear.
It's probably asking too much at this price, but it would be nice if the speed of the motors was variable. As-is, each one is either on or off (going forward or backward).
Finally on the wish list would be a smart battery charger/maintainer instead of the "dumb charger" that is included. The instructions say to charge the battery for 6 hours and disconnect it. If you forget, you'll damage your battery. If you don't really need the full 6 hours, ditto. We learned the hard way that the battery should be charged shortly before use. If it could be left attached to a maintainer, the battery would always be ready to go.
