I really like the way this stuff smells. It smells like clean water mixed with new plastic. I'd use this stuff as cologne if I could. However, it just does not last at all. If I spray all the seats and the floor of my car with this stuff and go for a drive, in about 10 minutes, the smell is completely gone. I did notice that it seems to remove other odors when it goes, but I'd really like if it stuck around. I've tried other air fresheners, and while they lasted for weeks at a time, the smell just wasn't as good as this. I ended up just keeping the tiny bottle of this stuff in my glove box and giving it a quick spray every now and then when I want my fix.

Let me start off by saying that the smell of this is not particularly bad - at least for me. I can see how come people would not like it, considering it smells exactly like bleach. I ordered this thinking I would get a spray that would smell like a new car - knowing full well that it is nearly impossible to exactly recreate that smell. I haven't tried any other "new car smell" air fresheners (or any air fresheners other than Febreze) so this is all new to me. I read many reviews on here saying that it doesn't smell like a new car however I went ahead and took the chance. When this arrived I immediately sprayed it in the car, in my room and on my wrist - just to smell the new car. I smelled bleach. That's right, this does not smell like a new car. At all. I read reviews saying that it's extremely strong and that I needed to dilute it - I didn't think ti was that strong at all. I didn't even smell it 2 days after I sprayed it. Is it a bad smell? No, I don't think so. It's pleasant enough and will smell nice in a car. But do not buy this if you are only looking for the new car smell because that is not what you are going to get. I'm giving this 3 stars because at least it smells somewhat nice but the lost 2 stars are due to the fact that it doesn't smell like a new car as advertised. I'm thinking of buying a few of those hanging pine trees to see if I can get something closer to the new car smell. I certainly did not get it from this.

This is the only "smell good" that gets used in my vehicle and it creates a very clean smell. It isn't as "new car" as an actual new car, but it does get a lot of compliments from passengers and paired with a clean interior it does get the "is this car brand new?" comment quite often so I am not disappointed. If you are looking up new car smells I am sure that by now you know that the actual new car smell is created by various chemicals and agents in your interior carpet and seats etc airing out so its longevity really relies on airflow through the interior. The more you run with windows down, or push exterior air through the cabin of your vehicle the less time your vehicle will smell like a "new car". Grab this spray and run with interior cabin air recycle through AC and it lasts a good long time and will keep you vehicle smelling fresh!

This stuff is awesome. I don't understand why some are leaving one-star reviews. I've tried several "new car" fragrances and this one by The Chemical Guys is the closest I've found to that real scent. It is probably impossible to recreate an actual new car smell without putting thousands of harmful chemicals into a bottle, but again this is the closest you'll probably get to it. The smell itself reminds me of a mixture between fresh plastic, rubber, leather, and maybe adhesive glue...but I promise it smells very pleasant. I also didn't feel the need to dilute it.

From the product description and the brand name from other quality products, I expected more from this air freshener. According to the website, only one spray is needed - use sparingly. Now I admit, I am deodorizing a van used to transport rescue animals but even in my personal vehicle this stuff is just not that strong at all. I must prefer and get better use from the standard air freshener sprays you buy at the supermarket or department stores and their strong formulas seem to work much better. Oh well ... just my opinion. Disappointed but Chemical Guys other products are still HIGHLY recommended.
***UPDATE*** I did not change wording on my original review above. BUT I am upgrading from 2 to 4 stars after continued use. Yes, I know admit that although weaker than I want, several sprays inside the vehicle DOES leave a temporary scent of what I think is a new car smell. Using a lot does overpower any other smells in the vehicle. Read the reviews of being like burned plastic but I disagree - this is the new car smell which is NEW plastic.
