Purchased for the long summer days - best move ever!

This artist set has withstood the test of time so far! My son is an avid doodler and loves to draw. The set is well priced for the amount of supplies it contains. I was concerned about the quality of the crayons - I am a stickler for Crayola! - but the crayons included work just fine. The pencils are wonderful and work well.
With that said my kid loves these and we are very happy with the quality of the actual art supplies and ...

The lower drawer came with the crayons all mixed up from shipping. It had taken me over an hour to gently remove them before I could get the drawer out and fix them. With that said my kid loves these and we are very happy with the quality of the actual art supplies and box. I marked this down because they should be putting something in that lower drawer to keep things from floating around when the UPS guy kicks it.

I'm somewhat torn between 3-4 stars. The case itself is nice and it is truly a nice set for the price. However, like many reviews stated, the crayons were ruined. They were stuck under the box and many were broken. Maybe a thin piece of tape would prevent the crayons from getting ruined during shipping.

I like the idea, style, and for the most part the execution. However, the plastic trays are poor quality and this will severely impact the crayon tray. The product is meant to sit stationary right ways up which is fine an dandy to an end user, but in shipment the crayon drawer got tossed pretty badly and took a lot of fidgeting to get open. I have a few broken crayons upon receipt (not the fault of the carrier either). The plastic trays aren't able to accommodate too much shifting and I do have future concerns about the pencils not being able to stay in the upright position given the tray quality. Although not a terrible product, there are probably nicer kits out there for a similar price.
I wouldn't recommend it to a friend.

I like the wooden box. I will probably use it for something else in the future. Because the crayons were not secured in place the drawer could not be opened. I had to shake it several times to loosen the jam. I was able to free the drawer after removing 9 pieces one by one until the jam cleared. The water colors seemed too dry, the water just sat on top of the cake.
