Good product except for VERY UNSAFE if ever left on stove
Lindsey S.✓ Verified Purchase•December 20, 2017
Great except for UNSAFE! This was a great tea kettle for us until the one time we accidentally left it on the burner (because this kettle doesn't whistle). When we found it, the bottom had melted off into a puddle on the side and when we went to pull it off to keep the (brand new) stove from being damaged, the hot metal fell and splashed all around our kitchen. Completely burning many holes through our linoleum flooring and my husband stepped on a small piece as he was trying to get out of the way and burned his foot pretty badly. Very unsafe because of the fact it doesn't whistle and if it ever boils dry - you're looking at a lot of damage and possible burn injuries. Beware
Poorly made

After one year, the copper bottom is separating from the stainless. Water bubbles out onto the stovetop when boiling water.
Still love it!

I chose this tea kettle two years ago and we still love it, so I thought it was time to leave a review. I don't understand the confusion about the lack of a whistle, since this is clearly mentioned in the description. I like classic kettles and I don't like whistles so this works best for us, since we stay in the kitchen while water boils anyway. It heats evenly and pours smoothly, no one gets splashed or burned. I leave it out on the stove top, except when cooking, so it's a breeze to clean. There are no signs of rust, no dents and no noticeable scratches. The color is beautiful and the kettle has a great, vintage style! If I ever did manage to ruin it, I would buy it again!
All teapots need a copper bottom!!

Purchased as a housewarming gift for my tea loving son. Nice vintage style, somewhat masculine. The fact that it doesn't whistle is not an issue because he stays in the kitchen while water heats up. Ignore the reviews from people who boil this pot with the heat too high or boil it dry. Of course the soldered copper bottom can't withstand abuse! Whether you choose this kettle or another, always look for a copper bottom for fast, even heat distribution. Highly recommended!!
Defective/unsafe Tea Kettle

This item is unsafe. We have had it about a month. This morning we boiled water for oatmeal and the bottom copper base melted off. This damaged our countertop, floor and my husband's foot. I will be contacting Amazon and Company I received the kettle from.
