Hidden Gem, Plug and Play 4 Drives That Simply Works
Stuckshutter✓ Verified PurchaseNovember 26, 2017
I had a two slot 'toaster' before that finally gave up the ghost. Looking for another, I found this hidden gem. Get it. NOW. This thing is awesome, handles 4 drives flawlessly, plug and play if you use it as just a bunch of disks. I now keep video drives and backups here and can easily swap out the drives as needed.
The manufacturer includes inserts that let you plug in your SSD drives too so you video guys are going to love this thing.
I did not try the raid array configuration so no opinion there but for a JBOD, this is great if you need to plug and play a lot of disks.
this is easily the nicest one I've stumbled on

I've been buying Cheap Chinese Generic Computer Parts for a long, long time. I've had to buy more than my fair share of enclosures to solve a problem, save a drive, or otherwise make something work. _For_the_price_, this is easily the nicest one I've stumbled on. includes niceties like extra screws and adapters, an optional stand, etc, that many don't.

Is it a fine piece of industrial engineering that you could proudly display amongst your collectibles? No, but it's a cheap piece of tech problem solving that punches _way_ above its weight class.

Not only would I buy another if the need arises, but also I'd recommend it to a friend... and if you know anything about being "that tech guy friend," you know how reluctant we are to make any recommendations that might come back to haunt us!
Works great and BETTER than advertised

Worked fine with my SATA III drives!!!

And, the speed was comparable to another external dock rated for SATA III. I think the manufacturer does not understand English well... I think the II refers to the number of drives as on the device is printed
SATA I
SATA II
indicating where to put drive 1 and where to put drive 2.

I found drive duplication worked fine. The only issue i had was with going from a smaller to larger drive which was suspect to begin with and I did not expect it would really expand the partitions - so, a small software adjustment after the fact.

Haven't tried using them for daily use or regular use... just to move a lot of existing data around and let me move drives between 4 laptops. It also helped to move data from a 1T 3.5" boot drive to a new SDD drive - great to not need to tie up the computer for ever operation.

I'd buy this again in a minute.
Good buy for the price

This enclosure comes with the SATA cables already installed. As others have mentioned, the positions are reversed from how they are on the drive, so you will have to cross the cables. IDE cables are also provided if you have an older drive.

Installation of the drive was straightforward and easy. Extra screws are provided and it even comes with a little screwdriver (nice touch). A driver disk is included, but I didn't need it as the enclosure was automatically recognized on my system. The power and activity lights are located on the back of the unit, which is odd, but not a big deal. Anyway, they are so bright that they could be annoying if on the front.

In some real world tests, I achieved sustained speeds of about 25 MB/s write and 30 MB/s read, which in my experience is pretty typical for USB 2.0 drives. This is fine for me since I only intend to use this occasionally when working on other people's old computers. If you want more speed and have a more modern computer, get an enclosure with a USB 3.0 or eSATA connection.
Great hard drive case, even better customer service!

I ordered two of this item after spilling a liquid beverage into my Toshiba laptop and causing it to become deceased. Unfortunately, thousands of hi-res photos, emails, and genealogy files were still on the two 500GB hard drives. Some had been backed up, others not so much.

I pulled the two hard drives from the laptop and ordered two of these units to turn them into USB drives and recover my precious files. Unfortunately, I had ordered the wrong size. I actually needed 2.5" drives rather than the 3.5" drives that I ordered.

Fortunately, I noticed my error before unpacking the items when I saw the size on the boxes. I messaged this seller and received not only prompt and excellent communications from them, but also an quick refund when I returned the unopened items.

Note, if you have a 3,5" hard drive from any computer, you can pop it into this case in a minute or two and plug it into your USB port on your new computer, and quickly recover your files. This is a perfect solution for upgrading from an older PC to a new one. With a few quick web searches, you will find easy to follow instructions to transfer your old Outlook files into your new PC's Outlook... and you can transfer any files via the easy to use software that self-installs when you plug in the hard drive case.

Nice way to transfer you data from an old computer to a new one, or to use an old hard drive as a USB backup drive that you can quickly backup files from any PC... think of a USB stick on steroids!

I make my living running a company that prides itself on superb customer service to our nationwide clients. My goal is to get our service up to the standards of this vendor, consistently. I can't wait to buy my next product from them!
