I was unable to use this for it's intended purpose as the clips are too strong. My fault as it probably was the wrong item to buy for my need. Otherwise, it seems well built and I am keeping it in case another need come up.

it is what it is, if you haven't used helping hands this is the most basic unit. very useful but anyone who gives a helping hands of this type better than a 4 hasn't used them. so awkward and such a pain to adjust. i'm not saying it can be done better, but i am saying that annoyances count.

I bought two of these and linked them together so that two stands share one single bar, then the little hands can slide back and forth. It's a more stable setup this way.
Overall this is a pretty good product, the build quality is fine, but it's just cumbersome to use. I'm not sure if there's really a way around this, it's just the unfortunate reality of helping hand devices. Fiddling with the wing nuts and making adjustments is just sort of a pain. I've used these to help out with a few projects and they help tremendously once you get it all positioned right. Soldering without something like this would be a nightmare.
They're so cheap that it's really a no brainer, grab one or two for the workbench and you won't regret it.

I used this to solder two wiring harnesses together.
it let me join and solder and shrink seal each wire pair one at a time, with perfect alignment.
it's heavier than it seems, the base is pretty solid.
The arms are a little tricky to work, just tighten them up a bit and move them under tension, it works fine.

Awesome! Love these helping hand stands for painting ps4 controllers. It holds the controllers shell so i can hold the base to paint all edges and curves, then i place it back down without worry.
Would highly recommend to people painting controller with these stands.
Don't ask me about soldering with them, i didnt buy them for that reason.
