One of my concerns in riding an eBike was "getting caught" away from home with a dead battery. Further, knowing the distances offered as expected range on the eBikes assumed someone slightly less voluminous than me - that's a mild mannered way of stating I am somewhat rotund. So, it just made sense to have a second battery. This allows me to travel 1 battery's distance away from home, knowing I have a like amount of reserve energy to make it back. Fact is, since using the eBike, I've rarely had to use the second battery to make it home. No surprises with the eBike or the batteries - both work well, and I'm using the older SLA type of battery.m

The e-Zip by Currie Technologies 24-Volt Bicycle Battery Pack with Button-Style... is a good quality battery that performs as advertized. I travel approx. 15 mile with most of the ride up hill to do my shopping and the same distance back (which is mostly down hill) and the battery makes the trip both ways. I have to take some pretty steep hills on the way up that used to put my normal bike into 1st gear and it was a challenge in the heat of summer. I was always self conscious about have a sweat streak on my bum when I got where I was going and now I don't have to worry anymore. With the e-Zip Trailz and the 24 Volt Bicycle Battery Pack... I can climb the hills as if I had legs like an athlete. I have purchased a second battery so I have no problem going anywhere that I would usually go to do my shopping, paying bills, visiting friends.... It's the greatest. You still get the workout and yet you don't have to exhaust yourself (and get all sweaty). I would highly recommend purchasing a second battery to those who can afford it. It's better to have more battery storage than you need than less because if the battery dies... It's like pedaling a lead bicycle.

This battery is model BA-PK24-005, which has two round contacts at the bottom for connecting to your bicycle battery contacts. If your bicycle (among those listed as compatible on the product description) has two round battery contacts where the battery connects, then this is the right battery for you. But if your bicycle has four blade-type contacts where the battery connects, then there is a newer model battery you need, model BA-PK24-005A, which is not compatible with this one. Currie says that this is the new 2014 design. (I just bought my eZip Trailz from Amazon and this battery was not compatible.)

Exactly the same as the batteries which come with Currie Tech's eZip bike models. Walmart sells eZip bikes with onl one battery installed in order to sell them cheaper. You can purchase one of these and the bike is already setup to just drop it in place, key the lock to hold it, charge and drive away.

Update: I bought an eZip Trailz from Walmart with one battery on board, and purchased two extra batteries (because I'd originally purchased two bikes)...ending up with 3 batteries. Good thing because in a very short time, one of the batteries went belly up. I'm pretty clear it was due to accidental overcharging. DO NOT OVERCHARGE. Currie Tech should offer and use ONLY chargers that shut off when full charge level is reached. To not do this (since these are already developed) is UPSELL for their short-warrantee batteries. Other than this however, I still enjoy my eZip bike and the other batteries are okay. I set a timer...unless of course I forget...then I get to pay over $100 if I want to replace the battery.

I take many trips to the market with my Zip bike, as I am retired and trying to save gas... I have 2 batteries and alternate them for charging... It is important that you follow the charging instructions.. and recharge the battery after each use... Works like a "champ" I was at first a little apprehensive, as I was not sure how far I could go on one charge. However, was presently surprised and use the electric bike a lot.. Fun to drive.. Turns a lot of heads...Love this bike and the battery is very reliable. went through only one battery in 3 years ! Just take care of your stuff and the stuff will take care of you.... Love the reliably ...It has never failed me... Highly recommend Their electric bike and battery's...
