Not cutting it

It takes a real long time to get location fix. Sometimes it doesn't get one at all, like over cast days. Even on clear days when it gets a fix it does hold it in my rural neighborhood.
This is the first time I have given a product one stare but it just doesn't do the job it is designed to.

Works great! Software is easy to use and device is easy to configure on windows. Extremely sensitive. I get good results even inside of my house. In order to test how it performed with loss of signal, I had to put it inside of a metal thermos.
Worthless

Neither accurate nor reliable. I tested this at a table under clear sky (no buildings near, nor trees overhead). Turned it on, taped it to the table, waited to make sure it established "lock" and started tracking, then left it alone and unmoving for about five hours. The resulting track was all over the place -- basically, a blob of up to half-mile wander all around that table. Then I took it with me on a trip to France; fortunately, I had another device and thought of this mainly as a backup as I walked around for hours each day. In France, being on and with light showing a "lock," the device never recorded more than 15 minutes of track at any time. After 6 hours of wandering, this thing managed to record only the first 10 minutes or so, then stopped. Every day. (Each time, it showed as on and locked, but when the track was accessed later it actually had not captured any data.) I thought maybe my unit failed, but everything checked out OK and I was able to copy large tracks to and from the device. The same thing happened every time, whether in Paris or out picnicking out of town on grounds of chateaux in the Loire River valley: I got maybe 5-10 minutes, and what I got was grossly inaccurate. Don't bother with this one -- it will surely fail you. Try another brand.
Would be nice if it would take a charge.

Kind of hard to review a product that was faulty.
I used it for 2 days and after that the unit wouldn't except a charge anymore. It might have come with a bad battery to begin with as it barley made it to 19 hours before running out of juice. Thank You Amazon for making it really easy to return items.
Besides that, while it worked, it worked flawless.
Instructions could have been a little better and it would be nice if the included CD (mini) would only contain software, drivers and manual meant for the particular unit. That imprint on the bottom of the unit is very hard to see even with 20/20 vision.
If you run Windows 10, the unit is recognized but you will have to install drivers manually. Plugging it into a Windows Vista computer made the software auto start and install drivers right from the unit.
On either machine you have to install CanWay from the CD to download data from the unit and view it.
Most of the steps explained in the manual are not needed. After installing the software and plugging in the unit, it was recognized right away by the software with no problems.I remember having to assign ports and stuff like that back from Windows XP. I think we are past that. And that is a plus for this unit and software.
What I am missing is that there is no real timeline with your track. You really have to push the button to mark a spot on your track. So you do have a track on a map but there isn't really anything telling you what time you were at a certain location. Would be nice to have that.
Very good - slightly sparse instructions

Would be 5 stars but the instructions are a little sparse, particularly when it comes to recharging the internal battery. I assume since it connects to the computer by USB that it recharges when plugged in and not turned on, but that is only an assumption on my part. It tracks very well, even inside buildings, although if you zoom way in in Google Maps or Google Earth, you do see what look like small zigzag movements that aren't really there. I bought this one and another one for a cruise later in the year and wanted to track both ship movements and shore excursion trips as exactly as possible and it looks like they will do the trick.
