There are a lot of pieces to this kit, and the finish, while not great, is alright. The project book that comes in the box has a lot of ideas, although somewhat limited detail in directions (which is fine.) I was just a bit disappointed that this was really just a box of uniform blocks, and a ball. (Maybe more than one, I forget.) I was expecting something about the kit to actually be specific to making rolling contraptions. Really though the only thing that makes it a Contraptions Plank Set is the ball(s) and the book. So if you had a similar set of blocks and a marble (which we do) you could certainly come up with ideas yourself and save a lot of money.

A bit disappointed. You need MORE than 200 to build and connect contraptions. 😠also wished the manual showed much clearer instructions how many planks you actually need to set up.
