Great glider and company
tbk03June 26, 2017
I've wanted a glider for a long time. This is a decent glider within our price range and we are enjoying it. The instructions come with pictures and the glider is fairly easy to assemble, but does take time. Our glider initially arrived damaged from shipping, which happens. I have to say that the owner and company are pleasant, responsive and they do all they can to work with you if there are any issues. Thank you!
Nice, but not exactly what I thought it would be

First, this was not a fun piece to build. The manufacturer put in a second set of directions, marginally better than the ones I assume originally came with the bench. Being a model builder I laid out all of the parts to become acquainted with them. TEST FIT EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU TIGHTEN ANYTHING!!! It seems intuitive enough, but you will need a second set of hands and a decent amount of patience. There are lots of extra parts, by the way, so much so that I reread the instructions and double checked alll my bolts. Based on the reviews, I bought a set of Robertson heads for my drill driver...you don't need them. You will need a good wrench, preferably with access to small spaces. A phillips head screw driver will come in handy, as will a soft hammer or mallet. Second, this looks exactly like the picture. It is not varnished, but it is stained like a picnic table. As I was wrenching bolts into place, I knicked the wood several times and some splintered off. So right off the bat I had an issue with the quality of the craftsmanship and the quality of the materials. It took about three hours to get everything together. Third, this is a really comfortable bench. It glides well, and is really pleasant. I bought this so that my wife and I could sit and watch weather, and so my son could do his school work in fresh air. It performs these functions well enough (so far). I offer this caveat, though...it feels cheap. It isn't heavy at all, and I was hesitant to sit on it at first. But it worked, it held, it glided, it smelled nice. There was some creaking here and there, but as the piece is only a few hours put together, I'll put that down to the wood settling into place. This has been on my wish list for about a year, now, and I finally scraped enough cash to get it. Was it worth 225 dollars? Arguably maybe. Would I buy it again? Probably not. Does it do what it's supposed to? So far, yes. This glider is being used on a covered front porch. It should only wear minimally with the elements. I don't know if I'd trust it on an open deck or in a back yard. It just seems...flimsy. It looks like it will fit three people comfortably, but I don't know if I want to test it. My son and I sat on it and glided for a while and there were no issues, but I was ready for anything. Honest opinion, I like it, but I don't love it. Again, this is only the first day using it and these are my first impressions.
After 4 coats of varathene spar urethane it is looking good, but I will have to go back and ...

I'm not sure this wood is red cedar, there was printing on the bottom of one of the slats that says "FIR". The stain is indoor stain without sealer, it does not penetrate. If you sand spots the stain will be gone there. After 4 coats of varathene spar urethane it is looking good, but I will have to go back and redo the arm rests as the sanded spots are obvious. Getting the bolts in that go through the swing piece and bearings was difficult, I had to squeeze the bolt and bearings together to get them tightened well as the bolts would just spin otherwise, and the top of the bolts are round.
I suspect the only thing Amish is the design, and that these come form China - just my opinion, I can't prove it. The long boards that go across the bottom had to have the ends cut back after I put it together as the arms were rubbing against them. I am happy with the end result, but I had to put in quite a few hours to get there.
Update: I decided to change to 4 stars, it is a nice bench once prepared properly, it glides smoothly and feels solid. I would recommend trimming off the ends of the two boards that go across the base assembly and out the holes in the side pieces, before doing the sealing and assembly. If you loosely put the 4 base pieces together, the extra length is easy to see and mark for cutting. I left about a half inch or so poking out instead of the 1 1/2 inches that it has.
High quality, beautiful glider

Beautiful swing for our front porch. Took some time to put together but well worth the effort. One of the arms and leg pieces did not fit into the holes of the seat as it was drilled wrong. I called the company and they worked extremely well with me. Took the right measurements over the phone, made a new arm and expressed it out to me. It then fit perfectly. It looks great, is very comfortable, and glides quietly. Definitely recommend. If there are any issues at all (and i think my drilling defect was not typical), the folks at Kilmer Creek will bend over backwards to help you. I give them an A+ for customer service. If you are looking for a glider, you won't be disappointed with this one. It is very well made with high quality materials and workmanship.
Fantastic Customer Service.

I buy a lot of things through Amazon but rarely leave feedback, however, I feel compelled to do so this time.

I purchased both the 5' Cedar Porch Slider and also the 2' Chair Slider. I have some of the same thoughts as most of the other reviewers. This is a well made, quality product for the price point. I like that it is made in the US. It comes with good and easy to follow instructions. It even comes with a separate page of instructions with lots of options should you want to put a finish on the sliders. I chose polyurethane. These look great and are comfortable.

The above reasons are enough for my review but the real reason that I stopped to write this is due to the company's customer service. You see, there was actually a problem with my order. I contacted the company and within hours, I had a return email from Hank. He was very attentive to my concerns and corrected the problem as quickly as possible. I am in a customer service industry and we all make mistakes, it is how you resolve them that separates you from your competition. I would gladly purchase from this company again and would encourage you to do so as well.
