They're accurate which is all I wanted. I give 4-stars just because they are very light weight and fragile. I bought three to put in my crawl space to measure temperature and humidity because I'm having problems with evaporation, ventilation and condensation. I spread these out around the crawl space and they all read within 1-2 degrees of each other on temperature, and 2-5% of each other in humidity.

Believe all the negative reviews. This is, indeed, a cheap piece of work.
I let mine sit for a few days until it seemed to be accurate. I then moved it. I noticed that depending upon your viewing angle, the perceived reading can be off by 5+ degrees.
If you need to know the exact temperature, do not buy this. If you only need to know if it's approximately (within 3-5 degrees) a certain temperature, then it works fine.
I bought mine to use as a baseline to calibrate the temperature readings from various sensors placed around my home. It did not work well for that.

Can't read temperature unless standing directly in front of it because the red line is deeply recessed into housing. If you move your head even a few inches to either side the line disappears. Only place to mount this out of the sun was a 4x4 post outside my back door which means I have to go out the door to read temperature. Ridiculous!
Useless and worthless

I purchased two of these. Within two days the "mercury" (whatever liquid they use) in one of them had spread itself into several globs, spaced along the length of the thermometer tube. Three days later, the second one had done essentially the same thing, with half the red stuff gathered at the top of the tube, and the other half at the bottom. They're not even substantial enough to become doorstops or paperweights. They're useless.
If it was $1.00 it would be Overpriced....

I am blaming myself for not reading some of the negative reviews about this thermometer. Oddly enough I don't see any that report the backside of the thermometer housing missing, assuming there would be one so it can hang on the wall, but there is no back. It's too bad that what used to be a good US company sold the rights to a Chinese company and now they put out a worthless product. I'll be sure to stay away from the 'Springfield' brand in the future.
