I saw a set of these at Ikea and was inspired. Came home and got online looking for high quality reasonably priced lights (everything at Ikea is mediocre quality). These things look SICK!! Set up was easy, price was excellent, and these things light up the room!! My only complaint is the mounting pads they give you. They don't stick to the tape at all. It isn't the tape itself, because the tape stuck to my TV and was hell to take off. Maybe if you scuffed the mounting pads and then stuck them on it would work out. Shouldn't have to do that. But anyway, you'll figure it out, and I can assure you, you'll love these lights. Enhances the viewing experience in a HUGE way, and anyone who sees them will be impressed. They are straight up beautiful. Worth every damn penny, and i'll be buying another set for the TV in my bedroom.

Five stars if the supplied adhesive was any good - it's not, but thankfully I read others' reviews before I began to set this up. I chose to use double-sided tape with velcro strips cut to about an inch length. This seemed to do the trick for me, but just double-sided tape may have been just fine.

I took care to have the lights all point the same way so that the L and R side and the top and bottom all show similar levels and how they shine. The light tubes have a "bottom" and if you point that out from the tv, you'll see a lot of light behind the TV but little spreading out on the wall or away from the tv... so I made sure that the "bottom" of the tubes were all pointed to the middle of the tv so the lights shine outwards... and this is really easy to do as the bottom is obvious.

The remote is OK and thankfully, I don't care about the various speeds. fades and thumping to music options, as I pretty much only wanted this to shine behind my tv so I could turn off the room lights when watching movies or tv. And it works very well for this, and the choice of colors from the 8 numbers at the bottom of the remote give me all the choices I care about. One minor issue, however, is that when I use the volume control on my Onkyo remote for my receiver, the colors change. I wish there was a way to fix this, but what I do is to set the volume, and THEN choose the color... so it's a minor issue, but it is there...

I bought this to use it as a back light for my 55inch samsung LED TV. It works like a charm. When you usually watch movies without any lights, your eyes hurts during or after the movie is finished, but with this back light, my eyes are stress free even after the movie. I also leave the lights on all the time when I'm home, because it makes my living room very fancy. I liked it so much I bought one for my brother and he likes it too. It'll be a great gift for your friends and family.

I'd have gave this 5 stars, but there is one problem that bothers me. The problem is that white is not pure white color. It has some other colors mixed in it like blue and green. I remember someone else said the same thing in the past review that white is not pure white and I can confirm that it is true.

Unless you really need pure white, this kit is for you. First I was disappointed that it wasn't pure white, but I got used to it.

My final verdict, 4 stars.

When ordering, I was worried about how convincing each color phase would be and how bright the LED lights would actually be from 2x9" and 2x15" bars. The alternating red-green-blue LEDs actually mixes the light quite well and gives a solid color to the surrounding area. The green and blue phases are particularly bright (therefore the red is less brilliant). The white light (all three colors ON) still feels like LED light--bluish fluorescent kind of lighting. I have them mounted to light up a wall that is about 25' long. The different speed color changing phases are nice but the mode that "listens" is a bit behind and also doesn't like things slower than a moderate tempo. The screws and plastic clip mounts included are easy to use and can be moved or re-installed if needed without much of a problem. There are lots of wires, which is fine if you know how to hide them. It's nice to have the extra reach with these lights. The control device also extends even further from the power supply which adds to the effective length. What's more is that there is room to add two more lights to the current device in case I feel like adding or moving my lights.

Don't listen to the reviews about this being junk. This is my 2nd order buying these lights. I sold my old tv and left the old lights on the tv, so wanted to buy some for my new 55" tv. Not sure what the person was talking about the lights being 2 different sizes. Yeah, they are SUPPOSED to be that way. The short ends are for the sides, and the longer tubes are for the top. I'm telling you, don't think twice about getting these. No need to spend 120 bucks on the Cryon lights. These look amazing. It really gives a cool effect to watching movies. It really makes focusing in on the tv less strainfull on your eyes with the soft glowing behind the tv. Plus, I like the fact you can set the lights on the strobe/mic effect. Basically, the lights will change and flash to the beat. Pretty cool when you are having a party.

Cons
The way you have to change colors is a little annoying. It basically has a feature that slowly glows from blue, to blue green, to green, etc... So, if there is a specific color you want, you have to wait until it gets to the color and then you push the "pause" button to make it stay that color. Really, you do this once, and it's not a big deal. I typically will leave it at a blue/green color, but every once in a while I'll change it up.

That's really it...nothing bad to say at all. The previous set I had lasted over 2 years without breaking. Like I said, I sold it with my old tv. Don't listen to any bad reviews on these lights. I'm a gadget geek, and really take care of my stuff, and these lights just work.
